Iron Chef Party
Hi ladies! hope you all had a nice weekend!
My husband and I have decided to throw an iron chef themed party in 2 weekends. My secret ingredient is going to be Peppers! Im pretty excited about it.
Looks like we will have about 30 people joining us, Ill be making a few apps and lengua for my friends who would enjoy that [I love it]! My question is how much wine would you suggest for this size party? I will also be making margaritas since I know a few women dont enjoy wine but do like tequila. Also, Id love to get dishes that are clear and plastic so that I can throw them away after, Ive seen people post a bout nice ones theyve found before so I just was curious.

There are about 5 glasses of wine per bottle. You hopefully know whether your group contains big wine drinkers. (See: my Christmas 2010 party that I still have 7 bottles of wine leftover from bc my group does not drink wine - lesson learned!)
I get the nice clear plastic plates at the grocery store beside the paper plates. I've seen them everywhere - Kroger, WM, Target.

Re: quantitiy of drinks.... I would estimate 1.5 drinks per person for the first hour (or maybe 2) and then 1 per person for each additional... when I worked in catering that was the formula we used and we always had plenty left over.
As Tarheels stated...it would help to know if you do have wine drinkers etc. Sometimes, DH and I will go through the guest list and estimate how many beer, wine, margaritas etc. each guest will drink and then put together our bar based on that average. It usually works out...

I get the clear plastic dishes from either the grocery store or the Dollar Tree. I also have some clear plastic serving trays from the Dollar Tree that I'll use if I don't feel like pulling out the fancy stuff. The trays are reusable but it also doesn't break my heart if one gets dropped. Party City would also carry this stuff, but they are more expensive.
I also have a big stash of sandwich plates that I can use if I'm having less than 15 people over. If you expect to have parties this size often, you may want to buy a set of clear glass sandwich plates. I have a few glass ones, but my big stash coordinates with my regular dishes, I'd like another dozen of so of the clear glass ones.

I did poll the group to see if there were any allergies or foods that they hated haha so hopefully no one feels that way!
The way we are doing it is that they cook their dish at home instead of at my place since there wouldnt be enough room, there are "judges" for most creative and best use of ingredient and then Ill have a few prizes
