Moms...how about 2 kids under 1 (not twins)?

Seriously.

My husband's niece's aunt (got that?  lol) had a little trouble getting pregnant with her first.  As such, after she had him (by C-section) she immediately started trying for the second...and got pregnant that first month?  Her second was born 10 months to the day after her first (I don't think the second went full term, I think second baby went a little early via c-section).

AGH!  I'm not even a mom and I can't imagine the mental and physical exhaustion.  I mean, first trimester tiredness with a newborn baby?!?!  Two labor and deliveries in one year?!?   My mind is BLOWN.

  • I would shoot myself in the head. :-)

I can't even begin to imagine the stress that would put on your body.

  • Irish Twins!

The biggest mind-blowing factor for me is that she let her husband near her that soon after childbirth, but maybe c-section mamas feel differently I guess.  Gives me the shivers... lol

  • Crazy.

At the daycare where I used to work, we had a family with three kids like that.

The oldest was born in September of 1995, the next was born in August of 1996, and the third was born in July of 1997. Three kids (no multiples) in 22 months.

  • One of my friends had her kids exactly 13 months apart. The second was very much an accident, but she loves having her girls so close in age now that they are 3 & 4. She did need lots of help in the beginning though!

I have a friend with kids 13 months apart too. She had to go to a fertility doctor to get pregnant with the first one. She never had a period and found out she was nearly in her second trimester at a standard gyn appt. Crazy how things happen!!

I'm a c-section mom, and I can't believe it, either.  The very last thing I wanted a month out was to do eet.  It scares me just to think of it!

  • As a c/s momma that scares the *** out of me, there is no way she was cleared for that kind of activity one month after major abdominal surgery. At one month, your wound is still pretty ... er, gross.

As a woman, I can't believe she wanted to jump her husband that bad .. sick kinky freaks. ;)

  • Holy moly, I would go crazy! It was sooooooo tough with Logan and Lincoln 15 months apart, I can't begin to imagine them being any closer in age. It is nice now having them so close in age, but definitely not fun or easy initially. Plus, we probably conceived Lincoln the first time we had sex post Logan at 6 months post partum, not 4 weeks!! Dear lord, what was she thinking?!
Finally a Mrs as of June 7, 2008

    My boring blog
  • My MIL and her brother are 10 months apart.  When DHs grandmother went for her 6 wk check up she found out she was pregnant!
  • My dad and his brother are 10 months apart. Crazy!
  • Obviously, I am not a mom, but I am just throwing my 2 cents in....as someone who has taken way way longer than expected to get pregnant with #1, DH and I have discussed this a lot.  If we ever do succeed in having our first child, once the 6 weeks passes (or whenever the dr, gives the okay to resume sexy time) we will not be using a contraceptive.  We won't be actively charting or anything, but we won't be avoiding either.  In fact, once probably 2-3 months passes, we will start actively trying again.  We both feel the possibility of having to wait 3-4 years between kids is less desirable to us than having them that close together.  So it is a risk we are willing to take, given our history.
  • I would die.

We only waited the 6 weeks, though.  I didn't have a c-section though.  We just used protection which is a damn good thing b/c I got my period again like 12 weeks after having her!

I know a lot of families like this - more our generation or older.  My Aunt had 4 under 5 years old!  None were twins. My Mom had 5....but we were over a 12 year span.  Muuuuch better :)

  • One of my best friends' kids are 3 weeks shy of being exactly a year apart. Her son was born Sept 23 2010 and her daughter was born Sept 4 2011. The weirdest thing about their family is that their son and her husband share the Sept 23 birthday and her daughter and her share the Sept 4 birthday. So, for 4 people in one family they only have to remember 2 birthdays. It is so crazy. It was a struggle for me with Kellen and Tessa being 19 months apart, I can't even imagine if I had a newborn when we celebrated Kellen's 1st birthday instead of just finding out I was pregnant. I admire moms that can handle it though.
  • My sister and I are 11 months apart. I was born July 31 and she was on June 27. My parents must have been crazy! My brother didn't come along for another 4.5 years. :)
