My 2 year old is obsessed with Monster Trucks, trains, cars, mobile cranes, etc. Pretty much anything that has an engine he is in love with. Depending on what you want to spend, that's also a good time to get outdoor play things like soccer balls, tee ball set, and a bike.
Another big hit at our house is our Vtech Reader. He can run it by himself completely, play the games, etc. For Christmas we got a few new book cartridges for him. Scooby Doo seems to be a big hit right now.
