So I went for my pedi tonight (got my favorite color orange fyi) and I had asked to speak with a stylist who has worked with cancer survivors. Most of you know that I've bitched about my hair pretty much since it has been growing back.
The stylist had some ideas, but I was going to wait on it. She had suggested pretty much just trying to cut it to a style so it grows out nicely and I don't have a mullet until it's a length that I'm happy with. She was really nice about it, but I told her I'd wait a few weeks and think it over.
When I was paying at the end, the owner (who I didn't know was the owner at the time) started talking to me about this process that one of his stylists does (it's a long term hair straightener) and was giving me options and telling me about his clients who have gone though chemo and grew back curly q hair.
He said if I was interested to give him a call and he'd only charge me xx. I didn't know the running charge, but after he told me how he does this especially for his "cancer clients" I made an appt for tomorrow. I dislike my curly hair.
I just went on their website to learn a) I was talking to the owner and b) I'm getting a 75% discount for the treatment I am getting tomorrow.
I'm scared because I've never dyed my hair or permed it (haha). I let a friend do highlights in my hair once and made her take it out after 5 minutes because I was afraid of it bleaching my whole head.
I'm also giddy that I might just have straight hair tomorrow.
So my secret is that I haven't told FI and if he knows what's good for him, he'll notice it and compliment it. ![]()

Re: Can you keep a secret?
I don't think we are, and if we are, I apologize because I don't know who you are! I'll PM you my name, you should be able to easily find me from other BNOTBers.
Nice!! I'm sure it will look great! And that's awesome they're giving you a discount. I can't wait to see pics.
By the way, I hope it was ok for me to add you on Facebook the other day. I never sent you a message, but I figured it was pretty obvious.
Oh yes! How exciting and awesome.
No worries
I'd like to add as many BNOTBers as possible before I head back to work Monday...I'm not sure if I'll be able to nest or not.
Oooh, that's fantastic! What a wonderful business owner, and I hope you love the results!
Are they giving you a Keratin Treatment?
I can't wait to see the pictures and hope you love it!
That's awesome! A friend of mine didn't have cancer, but she had brain surgery and her hair became curly after that, but now I now it's not that strange.
Don't forget to post photos, and I'm eager to know if your FI notices.
The owner sounds amazing and I'm so excited for you and your "new" hair!!
Yes, it is a Keratin Complex treatment. All I know so far is it's like a perm that I can't shampoo my hair for at least 48 hours. The straightening should last approximately 6 months.
I will definitely post pictures!
