Re: My heart is now tiny, black and crushed.
Kind of a sad day, but if it means they finally get their ish together and release Diablo III, I'm okay with it skipping a year.
I love lamp.
Do you really love the lamp or are you just saying that because you saw it?

Because I have no clue what you're talking about.
Blizzard has stated that they actually take a financial loss every time they host Blizzcon.
"Though Blizzard wouldn't get into specifics, its BlizzCon losses likely stem from a variety of sources. First, the company has to rent the Anaheim Convention Center and provide nearly 2,000 computers for demos and the expo's tournaments--which themselves have cash prizes to be paid out. Secondly, the company must fly in staffers from around the globe to man the event, causing a major crimp in productivity in the weeks leading up to it. Finally, Blizzard has to pay for appearances by celebrities, such as comedian Jay Mohr, and musical acts like past year's Ozzy Osbourne
However, as mentioned above, Blizzard feels the real payoff is the enthusiasm its event generates among its fans, including the 11-million-plus players of World of Warcraft. "We treat BlizzCon as an operating expense," the company said in a statement."

I'm sure that their financial manager is fully aware that just because it doesn't return a line-item profit on their statements doesn't mean that they aren't benefiting big-time. In addition, they have no trouble selling out tickets at current prices. Raise ticket prices, reduce the $ loss, tickets will still sell out. Win.
They've raised ticket prices by $25 every year and still sold out in minutes.
I'm just really surprised that they chose not to hold Blizzcon this year, especially with the hype of the new expansions going strong.
I'm mostly upset now I don't get to see my west coast guildies!

Can you guys organize a real life meeting in lieu of Blizzcon?
We've talked about having a Dread Pirate-Con, but the problem is details. We're all spread out and are having issues deciding where and when. Blizzard setting the date and location was always very convenient.

This I can agree on. The monk is so cool! I got to play the starting zone beta at the con last year.
Do you have the WoW annual pass? Guaranteed beta invites!

I do but I'm not holding my breath that it will be very many days of play time for the annual pass crowd. I can forsee it being SWTOR style where we only get a couple special weekends. Plus I don't get too into betas because I like waiting for a game that's well tested and hopefully not broken.
Have you played SWTOR?
I got it for Christmas and despise it. I think it's because I want it to be WoW with lightsabers but it's not.

DH plays it almost exclusively. Except when it's reloading onto his computer because he rage-uninstalled. True story. The game launched without PVP level brackets. I banned him from PVP for a week because of course it sucks when your level 23 gets clobbered by a level 50. (Over and over again)
We tried putting the beta on my computer and my computer just made faces at it and ran at 2fps so I said "okay, well, I guess I can stick with WoW for a while". Plus DH was disturbed that I repeatedly chose the most evil and b*tchy option in every conversation wheel thingy.
LOL
