strikes regarding Monti's reforms. Big truckers strike, which has resulted in a virtual embargo. It was particularly bad in Sicily b/c of the island. It's not great here now, but getting better. It's pretty rough in terms of day-to-day... like all the gas stations are out of gas.
I wouldn't be seriously worried though. The strikes will continue (gas station workers, taxis, and trains are forth-coming). Don't panic, but you may want call your hotels the day or two before you arrive and have a back-up xportation plan.

We're actually heading to Rome tomorrow too (God-willing the road blocks remain clear)! We'll be the Americans with the beautiful English Setter ;P!
xportation= transportation (I'm lazy, sorry).
