6fsn and other Ohio people
Do you know anything about Heath, Ohio? We have been talking about moving there.
Re: 6fsn and other Ohio people
Heath specifically all I know is that it has 2 nice pumpkin patches, a lot of industry, and an adult bookstore. It is very nicely located to either live there or have a ton of other options. Newark essentially borders Heath. My sister lives in Newark and I'm ~45 mins east of there (for now). Newark is bigger than Heath, but still a small community. They have a lovely downtown a few nice restaurants and a great kid's musuem.
My dad works in Heath, but lives in Lancaster ~20-30 mins away. I'd say that Lancaster is similar to Newark, but has a touch more money.
If you want small, quaint communities there is also Buckeye Lake. It's a "beach" community or as beachy as you get in central Ohio. It's a fun eclectic area. There is also Granville. Granville is PRICEY, but they consistently have the best schools in the state. Denison University is right there so there are concerts and speakers. The downtown is really fun with quaint shops and an awesome pub.
Like I said my dad works in Heath. Heath sits right off of I-70. For that reason it's a simple, simple commute to Columbus area. He works with oodles of people that make that commute every day. We've just gone through major house hunting in Columbus and I could give you some ideas there. Pickerington is a nice suburb of Columbus with decent schools as well. We looked at some nice places there. You might even look at Pataskala.
Now that I've typed all of that out I realize that I didn't say boo about Heath itself. Probably because Newark and Heath really are muddled together in my mind. I don't know where you are coming from, but I will say there are a lot of options around that immeidate area and within 30 mins. If you want anything more detailed ask away or PM me.
Thanks! We visit Newark a lot and I am trying to get a job a there. We live out in the boons and I am tired of driving to Newark to go to the Works, gym, pool, and everything else. But I am a little concerned about the crime in Newark itself. We are planning on renting for a little while longer, so I'm not too concerned about school systems yet. I think eventually we will buy in Granville.
I am looking into daycare/preschool programs near Newark. If you could ask your sister about any good ones, I would really appreciate it.
I'll ask my sister. I know that the preschool she used has closed and she never used a daycare center. Granville schools are awesome, but you will pay the price in taxes. Newark's catholic schools are reasonably prices and might be a good altenative. I hear a decent amount of Newark news and I'm not sure it's any worse that anywhere.
One other community you might think about is Millersport. It's a cute little place and you'd get front row seats for the sweet corn festival!
If you're interested this is a good tool for evaluating schools. Anything over 100 is considered a decent score.

Thanks for the link. We had discussed the religious schools, but we are atheists. That's a lot of the problem we've been having with preschools. It seems like all of them are religious except for the public one.
I love the Sweet Corn Festival. Last year we didn't get to go. The only day we could've gone was Saturday and we had a birthday party to go to. We usually get a babysitter and go to the Labor Day Festival in Canal to meet up with some of our old high school buddies.
