Movie recommendations for 5 and 7 year old boys...

that are not cartoons.

I have noticed that my kids only watch cartoon type movies. While I love me some Pixar, I think for my own sanity it's time to branch out and try some new non-animated movies.

What are some of your kids favorite live action films?

Thanks!

  • How about some oldies but goodies?

The Goonies, Beethoven, Field of Dreams, Ucle Buck, The Great Outdoors, Hook, Hoosiers, Angels in the Outfield, The Rookie, Rookie of the Year, The Sandlot, StarWars (my 8year old step daughter loves these movies), Harry Potter series, Home Alone, Elf, or/and Secretariot (sp).

I hope some of these work!

  • I agree with the PP, but also Spy Kids, Shark Boy and Lava Girl (lol), Charlie and the Choco Factory, Jumanji, any of the dog movies (Buddies??), Homeward Bound, Cats & Dogs

    ;)

  • Mary Poppins! My 5 yr old loves it (she also loves Charlie and the Choc Factory and Shark Boy and Lava Girl).

  • Never Ending Story,  Hook, Narnia series, Indiana Jones, Shaggy Dog,  Lord of the rings (maybe a little too young but my 6 year DD watches it)  Pink Panther,  Nanny Mcphee

  • My DS likes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original), Mary Poppins and the Wizard of Oz.  We are watching the Chipmunk movie right now.  I'm also thinking of renting him Mr. Popper's Penguins but I haven't checked the reviews/ratings to make sure its appropriate.
