I know this shouldn't bother me
Especially since there's not a damn thing I can do about it, but whenever I read the "how old are you" parts of polls, I feel positively ancient.
I know getting older beats the alternative, but sometimes I just sit here and think, "How on earth did I get this old??" I'll probably be 80 tomorrow.
Re: I know this shouldn't bother me
I know how you feel, it's almost like being over 30 on this board puts you over the hill.
Turning a year older tomorrow, it is really sinking in. I'm an OLD married hag! When did this happen!?

Maybe, but at this rate you'll only look 40!

Well, that and it puts you on my list of "people to actually listen and relate to".
No offense to any younger people - but let's just say the exceptions are few and far between for those under, say, 28ish.
To steal GLW's work of art, he could be thining the same thing.
(He's actually thinking, "Damn, who is that foxy redhead?")
The only reason my age freaks me out, really, is because I don't feel it. I still feel like I'm around 25, so actually admitting the true number gives me a "when the hell did that happen" moment.
Can you imagine feeling your age? Ugh. *shudders* That would be much worse.
I had a moment of terror as I realized I'm turning 30 this year.
And am married.
And own a house.
And drive a minivan.
And have two dogs.
And have two kids.
---
When the hell did all of that happen? I still feel cool!
Looking back through the poll I realize that I'm in the "older" club. Honestly, I'm much happier at 35 than I ever was in my 20s. I would take this age over the 20s any day of the week.
Plus it doesn't hurt that I still get carded sometimes, which is sweet! I had a lady at the gym tell me a couple of weeks ago that she thought that I was in college. I told her she just made my day!
The only time I ever really feel old is around my step daughter, she thinks anyone over 21 is ancient of course.
Where you're at in your life sounds fabulous.
Just sayin'
I try not to hold automatic assumptions over people strictly based on age.
There are definitely some younger girls on here who carry themselves very well, seem to have high maturity level, and can offer as solid advice and tidbits of wisdom as the elders. Then there are some younger girls who definitely "act their age" and have the same worries/concerns/vulnerabilities that I remember having at that age. I don't judge either way, I remember being young and having more insecurities than I do now.
I wouldn't discount someone just because they are under a certain age, I just discount someone if they are acting like an idiot and/or not listening to the advice and wisdom that others have already provided.
I agree with this completely
