Clean Barbies in dishwasher?

My mom gave DD tons of my old Barbies. I feel like they should be cleaned since they've been sitting in the basement for years. Can I put them in the dishwasher? Or is there a better way to clean loads of barbies?

I don't know if the plastic and synthetic hair would stand up to the heat. Throw them all in a bucket with hot water and dish soap. Let them sit, then rinse them well and they should be fine.

Why not just try to wash one of them on the top shelf of the dishwasher? I have washed a ton of toys in the dishwasher over the years, and had no problem. Pick the one that looks the worst, and give it a try.

i wouldnt, i would wash them with a clorox wipe. place them in a bucket with baking soda see if that helps with odor. when i was little if a barbie was wet, it pretty much got ruined.

I wouldn't do it since there's high heat, and the synthetic hair. You might get a result with bald barbies lol!

Don't get the hair wet {i think I remember putting my barbies in the tub when I was young, and the hair was always nasty afterwards.}

If I were you, I'd just use baby wipes to wipe down the body, and a little on the hair. You may wanna spray with lysol also

Yes, their hair will get ruined and their heads will be filled with water forever.

Many hobby stores or online companies like American Girl or MyTwinn carry a doll hair shampoo, its really just a spray on cleaner that works on the entire doll to clean it without damaging the hair or removing any paint.
