What to wear in Spain (April 21-May 4)
We'll be in Spain April 21-May 4 (Madrid, Granada & Barcelona) I'm wondering why type of clothes to pack. I was thinking we'd want mostly want 3/4 sleeve & some layers b/c the average h/l temps are mid 60's & mid 40's. But after looking at a friend?s pictures from Madrid & Barcelona in mid May they (& everyone else in the back ground of the pictures) had on short sleeves & shorts. Is 60 in Spain warmer than I think? My friend can't remember the details on the temp b/c it was several years ago & he's a man who can?t' remember what he wore yesterday
TIA
Re: What to wear in Spain (April 21-May 4)
I could do that but I don't think that'd look very good on my husband
So I'm trying to decide if he'll be fine in jeans & a tshirt or if we should think about bringing him some shorts. I just have in my head that April is too early for shorts, but if its warm it's warm.
Spring weather can be strange here. It depends on the year. I would wait until your trip gets closer but usually it is chilly in the morning and quite warm in the afternoon. Madrid is known for its sunny, blue skies so maybe it does feel warmer.
We were in Spain this past spring (early May-mid May) and layers are the best bet. During the day most of the time, I was fine in dresses (would bring a cardigan if I got chilly) or pants/capris with a short sleeved/sleeveless top with a cardigan, 3/4 long top, or light material long sleeved tee. At times it would get warm, but then it would get a tad chilly especially when the sun went down or behind the clouds.
At night, I always wore a long sleeved spring trench coat except for the night we went to the FC Barca game. Then I didn't want to bother with a coat.
We went to Madrid and Toledo that same time. It was beautiful and sunny for two days and then it rained and was cool for two days. I agree with the PP - wait until closer then decide what to pack. It's way too early to start packing.
With the weather patterns they've been, would anyone coming to NY this week have expected snow on Saturday and then 50 yesterday five months ago? Not really.
