What's up with this?

Lately, I have been totally unmotivated to work out and I'm so cold and tired all the time. I come home from rotation and make dinner and want to go to bed. I had my thyroid checked, but it is totally normal. How do I jump back on the wagon?

  • Hey, you've just described me...ha ha. I've always been like this though. It's worse in the Winter. I always feel so unmotivated to do anything.

  • Do you have any friends that could work out with you? Or your H? I find there's no better motivation than needing to meet up with someone.

  • H is even more unmotivated than I am...I think he shares a blood supply with the couch at times :)

  • This is me too.  I am very unmotivated, but I have joined MFP with a lot of the other girls here, and that's kept me on track.  I feel "guilty" so to speak if I go over my calories for the day, or I don't work out.  The girls there have been so helpful!

As far as being tired all the time, I know where you're coming from.  I am pretty sure I fell asleep for a few seconds driving to work this morning, which is a major problem.  When I had my last OBGYN appointment, she took a ton of blood and ran lots of tests and came to the conclusion that I'm "normal."  I've made the changes in my diet and added the vitamins that she's recommended, but my tiredness still continues.  I have a follow up appointment with her on Monday, so I'm hoping to get some more ideas and suggestions, because in the mornings, my tiredness is absolutely unbearable!

  • Hey, you just describe me and MH!  How much sleep are you getting?  I need about 9 hours to not feel tired.

Are you taking any medications?  I've been quite a bit better after I switched antidepressants.  Which brings me to...do you think it could be depression?

  • I'm not sure how long your rotation is or what time you are already getting up in the morning, but I have recently started working out in the morning before work and it's been great. I like it because I can get my workout done in the morning and enjoy the evenings with my husband, friends or family. It also makes me feel a little more awake and gets something checked off my to do list for the day. Do you think you could work out in the morning? The 30 Day Shred is perfect because it's so quick!

  • Thanks for all of the responses!! No, I don't think it is depression. I don't have any signs of it except for extreme fatigue. I think it is just working for free for 12-14 hours a day, working weekends at my "real" job and stressing out about neither one of us having pharmacist jobs yet :(
