Anyone make their own chalkboard paint?
I've seen it on Pinterest left and right. Just wondering how well it actually works. Does the chalk stick as well as it does to a regular chalkboard?
ETA: I wanted to paint something to match our walls, anyone know if you can use eggshell finish or does it need to be flat? I already have gallons of eggshell on hand, I'd hate to have to buy more paint.
Re: Anyone make their own chalkboard paint?
DH has been working long hours this week so I haven't gotten out of the house much yet. I plan to go get what I want to paint no later than this weekend so I'll report back with pics as soon as I'm done. I guess if it's too slick for the chalk to stick if nothing else it'll blend with the wall.
I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! very easy! I used a satin, and it worked well, so eggshell will not be a problem.
2 tablespoons un-sanded grout per cup of paint. I used a cookie sheet so it would also be magnetic, so I had to prime.
sand w/ 150 grit sand paper. I think I had to do a second coat, but that could have just been the surface, and season by rubbing chalk all over and wiping it off with a paper towel.
