Just curious- what was the reason you didnt deserve the 8k tax credit? I've had a lot of experience with it and with clients who thought they weren't supposed to get it but actually did meet the criteria and the opposite.. Just wanted to see if I could held shed any light.

Oh yeah, that's pretty cut & dry then. As far as if you didn't make money when you sold - from the irs.gov website:
If you sell your main home to an unrelated person or entity, you repay the credit only up to the amount of gain, if any, on the sale. Note: when calculating gain or loss on your main home if you received the credit, you reduce your basis by any remaining amount of the credit. See Publication 551, Basis of Assets, for more information.
