I guess I don't really understand the point of the Dealer's Open. We ended up with 18 business cards yesterday and we know that there were lots of families coming through with their Realtors. But, we have like 5 business cards from one Agency alone. Do Realtors just come to these things as a training exercise?
I just got a call from another Realtor wanting to come tomorrow (thank you for the day's notice!
) But she specifically mentioned she would leave a business card. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing with these things? And would there be an advantage to leaving all that are collected out on the table with the Home Book, so people can see how many people have been though? Or should I clear them every night?
Re: So what am I supposed to be doing with all these business cards?
I just assumed they left them as a way to let the seller know they had been there.
This house was vacant when we bought it. We found at least 100+ cards in the kitchen island drawer.
As a Realtor, I leave them at homes I visit (Broker's tour, showing etc) so that you know who was in your house. The lock boxes keep an electronic record of who comes in but I am also trying to be considerate to the owner by letting them know I was there.
I collect them from my listings and use them to follow up with Realtors who had visited the property. I look for feedback that may be useful to me and my clients.
You can leave them out or put them away, it up to you
Lots of times an owner or Realtor will leave out a small dish or box to collect the cards and to cut down on the 'clutter' effect
Different areas have different 'customs' regarding Broker's tour. Some areas have a very strong, well established and well attended Broker's tour. Other areas do not have a set day for Broker's tour nor a very large attendance. My area tours every Friday morning. We go out to see the new properties that may be of interest to a client or just good to see to keep up on the market. On any given Friday, there are probably 300 Realtors out touring properties (of course, not everyone attends every property). In my opinion, it is an extremely valuable time for everyone: the property gets great exposure, it cuts down on the inconvenience to the seller (lots of agents - short amount of time), Realtors gain valuable information on the inventory and market activity and it is a great time to connect with other active Realtors and catch up on activity over the week (what sold recently, what terms, how many offers, etc).
Anyways, I hope this helps a little. I am glad you have had so many agents come through. Good luck with the sale!
