last night i had a break down after laying in bed for over 2 hours without falling asleep. it's been happening for a few nights in a row and has happened for a couple stinits in the past few weeks. H picked me up a sleeping aid and i hope it helps. i took it already so i hope i get 12hrs of sleep tonight!
i need it, i'm SO exhausted!

we're having twins!
Re: sleeping aid
I have had insomnia since I was a wee one. If your sleeping troubles continue don't take OTC sleeping pills for too long, they can be addicting!
Try to practice good sleep hygiene. This means going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time EVERY day. Don't watch TV or read in bed. The only thing your bed should be used for is sleeping and sexxytime (you can TOTALLY do this right before bed though and it could help).
No caffeine after 2pm
Eat dinner early
Don't workout late - this really gets you going!
If you want something long term, try melatonin... More natural and less addictive...

In addition to therickson's excellent advice, avoid electronics (tv, computer, smartphone, etc) for at least an hour before bedtime. They say the blue light emitted by the screens activates your brain too much.
Also, the other thing I've read is that it's not a good idea to lie in bed trying to fall asleep for hours. It can make you start associating your bed with that frustration. Instead, move out to the couch or somewhere else to lie down and rest. This has helped me before in the past...couldn't fall asleep in bed so I went to the couch to lie down and was out like a light in 15 minutes. Then when I wake up for my nightly interrupting-pee, I trudge to bed and can fall back asleep with no problems.
