Toddlers and Tiaras thoughts

so, I watch here and there - but I have def seen my fair share of episodes.

My question/comment is that WTF.

Some of these kids  appear to want to participate however, while others

particularly MacKenzie (sp?) never really wants to. She wants to win, but not participate.  She throws a fit over practicing, getting made up, and every last detail until its time to get on stage.

I guess It really irks me how her mom keeps forcing her to do more and more when she literally battles every single move they make.

(i have seen behaviors with other kids but MacKenzie sticks out for me as the worst...)

Re: Toddlers and Tiaras thoughts

  • Those mothers are absolutely NUTS!!!! And I feel bad for their daughters (and the occasional son that gets subjected to the pageant life) and especially their husbands.

  • Eventually some Japanese engineer will invent a little child robot that these psycho moms can dress up, program with a routine and mimic their ridiculous wiggles in the audience.  Then they can leave their lovely children alone to enjoy their lives.
  • I can't watch that show.  A 5yr old should not look like that!

    I know!!!!!

    ugh

the thigh highs, the bare midriffs, they tan them/use makeup to change the total coloring and appearance of their face............ its too much.

  • I just finished up a show at 10 EST and it focused A LOT on the children's weight.  One mom had her 9 year old lose 10 pounds.  I hope they are saving their winnings for therapy later because that mom is going to give her kid body issues and probably an eating disorder the way she was stressing over the kid's weight.
  • I just watched the last episode as well. I am wicked angry at the mom who claimed that judges only choose blonde hair/blue eyed girls. Her daughter didn't win because she was so late for her competition that they moved on to crowning. Then audacity to claim that because her daughter has dark features so she was robbed. Ugh!

And don't get me started on the moms who feed their children red bulls and moutain dew.

YES. and she was late TWICE.

  • It's like a bad train wreck, I just can't look away. I love to hate this show!! These moms are just so insane, they are living through their children and messing with the kids heads

  • I found myself watching the one that was on before the newest episode and I felt soooo embarrassed for Alana (I think that was her name). Her mom got her all hopped up on mt dew and wanted her to shake her belly for the judges, and her interviews were so uncomfortable to watch. I was cringing the entire time.

Just the fact that this is on tv and can be brought up for years to come is going to seriously affect some of these kids in the future.

  • Makenzie isn't the worst example of a kid who clearly doesn't want to do pageants - I can think of a few others.  The worst for me so far is that little girl named Alaska whose mom bullied and belittled her so much that her self-esteem was just completely gone.

As much as I despise the moms on the show, at least most of them have a line they won't cross (granted, their lines are far beyond my own). Some of the little girls get made-up to look like strippers and have matching dance routines.  There was a quick shot of a particularly horrendous case during last night's episode - she was wearing a midriff/booty short cop outfit and grinding on a Power Wheels car.  She couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.

    This is my siggy.

Don't forget the kid who was ACTUALLY dressed as a prostitute (Julia Robert's character in Pretty Woman).  Even the gay stylist who was helping mom put her together thought the costume was over the top.

And that girl won Grand Supreme.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that one.  Paizlee or P'Aislee or Paisley or whatever God-awful name her parents stuck her with.
