I have a problem.

with shoes. really, clothes in general. I just need to never leave the house. I just bought a second pair of converse and my goal is to not buy another pair of shoes this year. Please, don't let me.

  • Hah! This year? Good luck with that. Smile My mom has the same problem though. We joke that she could clothe a small village with her closet.

  • I'm a shoe whore too!  I got rid of 6 pairs this summer and then went and bought 2 more pairs to replace them.  I had to make that deal with myself!  DSW is dangerous for me!
  • I was a  doc marten whore in my previous life! I have 8 pairs of boots in my closet that I haven't worn in at least 8 years, that doesn't include the ones my mom inherited. That said, I *never* paid full price for them, but the thought of getting rid of them kills me.

That said I now buy the same shoes/boots in different colors and call it a day.

  • I pretty much stick to riding boots, converse, and running shoes for the most part. I'm not into heels at all, or really anything uncomfortable. (I have an awful back)

  • At one point I had 4 different pairs of DMs.  I had sandals (big mistake), regular non boot ones, actually I had to replace them after 4 years and bought another pair, boot types (not the hard core ones though) and then some dressier ones.  The dressy ones were cute but started to kill my back.  I think I only have 2 pairs of those now.  I can't remember the last time I wore them.

I remember buying the sandals when I was 20.  I had some 15 year olds with me and when they heard the total they said that I must have bought the most expensive shoes in the whole store!  Ha ha!  I think they were like $120 at  the Bon Marche (AKA Macy's 12 years ago).

  • you're talking to the wrong people to convince you to not buy SHOES!

Ditto! I love my shoes. I also had quite the Doc Martins collection back in the day. I did keep one pair and they're great for tromping into work when it snows :)

That said, if anyone is looking to purge their closet and donate shoes to a good cause, check out http://redeemingsoles.org/. They collect shoes to provide to relief organizations in Seattle to hand out to the homeless. I can't imagine having to walk around the city barefoot or just in socks! H and I are rounding up a few pairs that we don't wear anymore to donate. Our closets are too full anyways!

That sounds like a great idea! I know I have at least a few I haven't worn in a while!

  • That's a great idea about shoes to donate...now, where can I donate shoes that are getting down to bare bonesish? I would feel bad about donating them for other people to wear as they're quite scruddy, but I also don't like throwing things into the dump.
