I had my first dr's appointment today. I took the day off from work and DH took the afternoon off. We were super giddy/excited/normal-first-time-parents.
I had all the normal stuff done, like medical history, exam, etc. When they went to take my blood pressure, the nurse couldn't get a good reading so she went and got another cuff. I told her I had a history of high blood pressure. She took it twice more, and finally decided she would have the MW take it. The MW took it a few times, "bad readings". Finally, they had a third person do it. My BP was 170/125. :-/
The whole office started buzzing around trying to find an OB, who promptly put me on bp meds and scheduled me an emergency appointment with a high risk OB. I have to go back on Friday, after taking the meds and giving them a 24 hr urine sample to check for normal functioning kidneys and protein in my pee.
To make matters worse, I have a cold, so I'm not feeling too hot to begin with. And then I got a splitting headache.
Oh yeah, and the icing on the cake? As we were trying to shake off what a disappointing appointment that had been, we decided to go to Panera Bread for some dinner. (We had been at the hospital for 4 hours when it was supposed to only take an hr.) SOMEONE HIT OUR F***ING CAR LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE HOSPITAL. Rear end collision, girl didn't have her license and/or insurance info, we called the police, and we waited for an hr and a half.
Today sucked. Big time.

You're right... that really sucks! At least everyone is okay and when you go to sleep tonight you can just relax and try to have a better day tomorrow.
Sending you some hugs though. Days like that are the worst!
