Any opinions on Bellagio vs. Venetian in Vegas?

We're going for my 40th in May, and I'm trying to pick a hotel to stay at. Was thinking of doing on the cheap again but I've changed my mind.

I've actually never even been inside the Bellagio to see the casino. I *have* been inside the Venetian, and I'm not completely sold on that one. However I'm really impressed with the rave reviews I've seen of the Bellagio.

Also....who can give me the rundown on how the bidding for rooms thing works....um....is it hotwire.com? Never done it.

Re: Any opinions on Bellagio vs. Venetian in Vegas?

  • Is there a reason you've narrowed it down to these two? I'd pick Venetian because I like the rooms better, but neither would probably be my first pick. Currently I would die to stay at the Cosmopolitan. Location can't be beat, the rooms look awesome and I love the amenities of the hotel.
  • I've stayed in the Bellagio but I've only seen a room at the Venetian. The Venetian room was bigger and I honestly wasn't super impressed with the Bellagio room. It was nice but nothing special, and I wouldn't pay a premium to stay there. The common areas of it are always crowded as heck because lots of people who aren't staying there are always wandering around. If you want a really nice room check out the Wynn and Encore, and the Aria is quite nice and very central, too.

I'm not sure if you can bid on hotwire.com. They have a thing where you can book a hotel when you don't know the name, just the amenities, for a supposedly discounted price. You bid on Priceline.com. Basically you pick an area, a star rating, and submit a price. Betterbidding.com and BiddingforTravel.com can help you figure out which hotels are located in which areas on the sites and what amenities are included in the descriptions, as well as strategies for bidding.

  • not a fan of either but id pick venetian over bellagio

  • If you'd be willing to stay at Palazzo instead of Venetian, I'd choose that over Bellagio.

  • Yea, I've stayed at both and would chose Palazzo of those two. However, for our last two staycations, we've stayed at Cosmo and it's AWESOME. Spring for a room that faces Bellagio and sit out on your balcony sipping drinks and watching the fountains.

ditto this.  The Palazzo rooms are so much nicer than the B's.

The cosmo is my favorite place in Vegas.  We had much better views of the Bellagio fountains on the terrace of our cosmo room than we did at our room at the Bellagio.
