So this is something I have been wavering back and forth now for a couple of weeks. I decided on Tuesday night that I just needed to be strong and break up with him, so I did last night. I was a little nervous, bc I really did NOT want to have a long "talk" about why it didn't work out bc there are too many reasons to list (short story is we are not compatible). We were together almost 6 months.
He said I "ambushed" him last night and complained that I did it in person (bc I drove the 30 minutes there "just" to break up with him). I was like "seriously, you would have rather me broken up with you over text?". I think he was just upset and used that to complain about.
He did text me on the way home. It said "well played, definitely didnt see that coming, good luck." I responded "I wish you luck as well." No contact after that, thank goodness.
I am really comfortable with my decision, but I think its just going to take me a while to get back used to being single since we spent so much time together.
On the plus side, I have a girls weekend trip in 1 month to Disneyworld so that I can run the Princess 1/2 marathon! So something to look forward too!

Re: I broke up with my BF...
Yeah, I know right? That first part of the text was kinda mean, but then he ended it with "good luck." Not sure if that was supposed to be sarcastic or not. Oh well, whats done is done.
He sounds immature. That was a douche move on his part--well played? Grow up. I think the good luck was sarcastic. Regardless, you did what was best for you and you have some great things to look forward to!
I told you this last night, but if you need anything you know how to find me!
Hopefully, you can make it down to one of our group runs sometime! Although, the BF and I are swimming tonight, so we won't be there.
I am also SO excited for your Disney trip!!
FWIW- It sounds sarcastic to me too. Also, I think you broke up with him the most noble way. I always give the side eye to people who break up via text/voicemail/email etc...
They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
It sounds like you handled the whole thing really well, I'm sure it wasn't easy.
Good luck on your half marathon, I've always thought that one sounded like fun.
Thanks. I might come down next Thursday night for the group run.
I'm glad things went ok and it didn't drag on any longer than that text. The Disney trip sounds exciting. My friend lives there and also will be running in that marathon.
Yeah, I think he was just upset. He is 34. And yes, I agree he would have complained about it if I did it via text, phone, etc.
He texted me today and he was MUCH nicer and we texted a little bit and ended it on a good/nice/sad note.
