Dance Moms 1/24
Did anybody catch Dance Moms last night? I actually agreed with Abby that Brooke should have quit at the beginning of the season. Her wanting to try out for cheerleading isn't exactly a new thing.
It bugs me how staged the Candy Apples rivalry is. Did anybody notice Abby and Kathy sitting next to each other? If they were true enemies, you can't tell me that one of them could have gotten another seat.
I hate how Abby is so tough on Chloe, but not Maddie. I noticed Maddie slip up in her routine. It was ridiculous that she told Kelly that Maddie didn't win because she was too professional compared to everyone else. Just give Chloe credit for winning!
Lastly, it is driving me nuts that Abby keeps telling Chloe she is getting recognized for the music video! Nobody saw that video, outside of Dance Mom watchers. I bet ALL the girls are getting recognized due to the show, not the stupid music video.

I agree with Abby about Brooke, but I also am glad to see her do cheerleading. You could tell that Brooke was so miserable and she has mentioned a few times how she didn't think she wants to dance anymore and she would like to try cheerleading. Yeah, Brooke should have bowed out at the beginning of the week, but I also felt like that drama was staged. Brooke finally gets the top of the pyramid and gets to be featured in a dance, the same week of cheerleading tryouts?!
I feel bad for Chloe. I'm sure much of Abby's attitude towards Chloe is due in part to Abby and Christi's relationship. It's just be nice if they gave her some credit for being a good dancer and not winning just because of luck.
As far as Kelly's comments- I always wonder how true that is. You never hear Abby actually saying why Maddie didn't win and Abby isn't one to hold back her opinions. I was happy to see Mackenzie win her solo though!
I noticed that Kelly, Maddie and Mackenzie wasn't in the opening credits this week. I even watched it a second time, because it seemed strange.
I'm glad Brooke is doing something she likes, but she should have quit before the season or at least before they rehearsed a group dance featuring her.
Chloey- Glad she won and beat Maddie.
Maddie- Probably didn't win because she didn't like her solo.
Macenzie- Cute as can be.
I'm glad Chloe won over Maddie. I agree with pp that Maddie probably didn't win because the judges could tell she didn't like her solo. Also, in the beginning when Abby was doing the pyramid and they showed Maddie talking about how she was glad it was someone else's turn to shine, she seemed very fake. I think Maddie and her mom were both very upset that she wasn't on top one week.
I'm glad Brooke is doing something she wants but she should not have started the season with dancing if she wasn't planning on going through with it. She should have told her mom she wanted to try other things first.
I wish they would feature Mackenzie more. She seems to be a very good dancer and she's cute as a button.
Also, did anyone else think Chloe looked super thin in her solo? I get that she's only 9ish and she's still growing but she just looked crazy thin to me.
In the preview for next-the girl they bring in. Wasn't she one that tried out and didn't make it and her mom get in a fight with Abby? Maybe thats why they are playing the Brooke drama so much.
I feel bad for Brooke, and yes she should have quit that the start of the seaon, but she's 13- give her a break- I would have done the same thing as Kelly and let her try out. Maybe if Brooke was with kids her own age she wouldnt be as bored- a 13 year old doesn't want to hang out and travel with 8 and 9 year olds.
I agree- who actually saw that music video besides the viewers of the show?! Chloe is good dancer- maybe she won because she deserved to. I really don't think Maddie is any better than Chloe- they just have a different style- Maddie has the big eyes and the big facial expressions on stage, where Chloe isn't as big, but is very expressive in her dance.
Cathy is complete loon! Her dancers are so much older- but they throw Vivi in there to make it so they can dance with younger kids- that doesn't make sence to me- if the majority of the group is 13 and 14 they should dance with kids that age. Vivi is a terrible dancer- I'm sorry but she is- she just has nothing going for her- I do not think she is cute, she's very awkard and her speech is horrific- I think she needs to spend more time with a speech therapist and not a dance studio. Cathy needs to realize that Vivi is not her- and let her do something she enjoys, as opposed to forcing her dance, because that's what Cathy wants her to do.
Why Cathy talks so badly about Abbby to her students is just wrong, health competition is okay, but she is just out of line. And what's with always saying stuff to Christi? really the discoball comment and the payless shoe comment- that's not necessary.
i just got into this show last week and think i got caught up (for this season anyway.)
i'm glad that brooke went to cheerleading tryouts instead. even if she made the commitment to dance at the beginning of the year, who the fuuuck would want to continue to be yelled at and berated when there is the option to do something you think will be more fun and less stressful.
abby is such a manipulator. to tell kids that they aren't going to do a group dance b/c one person isn't there is awful. okay, you can do a group dance, but i'm not going to be involved (implying it will be bad.) okay, well i'm going to show up anyway b/c obviously it can't go on w/out me. ugh, it's disgusting. she is so needy for adulation.
i can't believe these moms let her speak to their kids like that. i'm not a mom, i have zero desire to be a mom, and i dislike kids in general, but JFC, i think i would punch someone in the face if i heard them speaking to a kid like she does.
Since the story line started with Brooke's tryouts, I'm sure she already told her mom she wanted to do something else.
As a parent, I believe in teaching kids to "stick it out," when they make a committment, but if my daughter was on Abby's dance team (and my dd is in a performance dance group), I would also feel like signing up for dance competition is no reason to be treated badly. It's not as if Brooke just changed her mind - Abby tears down those kids emotionally and Brooke might have been worn down by it. After all, Abby is always saying "it's my way or the highway....Brooke chose the highway. Plus, as someone else noted - how fun is it to spend every weekend with 9-10 year olds?
I thought it was terrible how Abby told the girls "Brooke is nothing." Yes, "the show must go on," but her attitude is so terrible.
I'm glad the Chloe won. Abby obviously favors Maddie - - her dance did not look professional, IMO.
Cathy is crazy-cakes. I hope those fights are staged, b/c if they are not, who makes fun of someone's nose? And Vivi is a terrible dancer.
