Can someone tell me what is betterbidding.com?
I have seen it mentioned on this board but trying to get my hands around what this site is.
I did go there briefly and it looks like a forum, but I thought it is supposed to help you determine which hotels you are getting if you choose the Name Own Price on either Hotwire or Priceline?
Re: Can someone tell me what is betterbidding.com?
It is exactly what you say it is.
By city there is a list of what priceline hotels are in what areas at each particular star level. By using that list as a tool you will know what your options are if you bid a certain star level in a certain area. For instance, if you bid a 5* on the Las Vegas Strip North, you know that the only possibilities are The Wynn, Palazzo or Venetian.
There is a forum where people post messages to share recent wins and/or ask for help in bidding.
Another similar website is biddingfortravel.com
Thanks for your help.
Is it necessarily better to go through bidding on hotwire/priceline vs. some of the hotel promos offered via email?
From my experience, it depends on many factors including time until dates of travel and location you're traveling to. I got a crazy low price for a hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia which I booked 6 months out on Priceline. Nothing I saw in any promos was even close. For NYC I booked a room on Hotwire about a week before the date needed and it was about even with all the pricing I saw anywhere.
