Those who have dropped cable
We're seriously contemplating it. It makes me sick paying over $100 each month and feeling ripped off by it.
So I know the alternatives would be Netflix and Hulu.. anything else? I know Hulu is free, but I've also heard people pay for it.. whats that about?
Warning
No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
Re: Those who have dropped cable
Hulu is free; hulu plus is not. Plus is the only way to stream on most tvs, but you could just hook up your computer if you want to use the free version. Plus also holds on to more episodes, and my air them at different dates (iirc, fox and cw delay release to hulu for a week).
There's also amazon prime streaming.
What works for you depends a lot on how you view tv. If you're a surfer who just watches passively, hulu doesn't really help. But, if you have a few particular shows you watch, and you don't mind seeing them delayed, it works well.
Depends on what you're looking for.
Newish movies: Redbox
Older movies: Netflix
Older TV: Netflix, Amazon, etc.
Newer TV: Amazon, iTunes, Hulu, the website of the network that actually produced the show.
Sports: ? I've heard that there are websites and such, but I do not know which ones.
We're dropping down to the most basic cable plan (hopefully this weekend). It's $10 or something like that a month.
We're going to continue to use our Netflix subscription, Hulu (maybe Hulu Plus) and basic cable for sports. We'll be going from $140 a month to about $25.
::::::takes notes::::::
I'm trying my hardest to convince K to drop cable; or if not completely at least to the bare bones. He's having a hard time with the concept.
I would so drop my cable if I had a better internet connection. I have hughsnet which is satellite internet and its horrible.
I wish you the best in trying to figure out what to do.
I dropped cable a few months ago. I watch my go-to shows (GG, Bones, New Girl) via the CW or Fox website on my laptop.
Giving up cable has allowed me to read more, start painting again, ETC, ETC, ETC. I'm so glad I gave it up. For me though it was more than just giving up cable, I wanted to give up TV as a whole. So glad I did!
