I'm a SAHM! (As of June)

I am finishing up this school year and then staying home with Brett and Emma until they start school. I am so excited :) We are definitely going to need to budget some but this decision makes me so happy!!!!

Re: I'm a SAHM! (As of June)

  • That is awesome, I know you must be looking forward to that so much! Congrats :)
  • That is awesome!  I will be taking off the summer (obv) and the fall semester so I will be at home too!  I am a little anxious about it, I haven't not worked since I was 15, but I know a baby is a job within itself.  I took out short term disability insurance so I will still get some money and I will continue doing weddings, but at this point I'm going to have to go back in the spring.  I hope you enjoy being  a SAHM!  You will have your own mini class to take care of, a class of two :)
  • That's great! Congratulations!

  • That is really great. I know you'll be so happy to be home with them everyday. And it is totally worth making some sacrifices budget-wise IMO.

  • That is so wonderful!  Congratulations!
  • That's great Jessica!  You will really enjoy it!  I know once I made the decision to quit my job I was super nervous because I was afraid I would go crazy with all my free time.  Well I didn't, ha, and now I wonder how I ever worked once Macy was born.  Oh, and by the way, you don't really have any free time as a SAHM!  Staying at home is nice because you can do all of your errands when Brian is at work, so that way when he is home more time can be spent as a family.  Jason and I don't fight nearly as much since I became a SAHM, as most of our fights before were about housework.

Oh and as for budget.....I'll admit, it was rough in the beginning and probably took us about a year to adjust totally, but now I am amazed at how much money we spent on stuff we didn't need.  So I think it's a good exercise to live smaller.  That way when you go back to work, you will be trained at how NOT to waste money :)

  • Yay!  I love being at home with my twinkies!  You will love it too!  It's exhausting some days, but it just becomes normal :)

  • That is awesome news! When I went to PT was a hit for us, but totally worth it. It takes time to get used to making less, but you make it work somehow. :)

  • Yes! This was the best decision I made, too. Congrats. :)
  • Congrats!  I wish this was an option for us, but our benefits are through my work and I make way more than DH right now.  I'm really hoping he can stay with her when I'm off leave though.  Daycare makes me sad :(

  • Thanks, everyone! I am so excited. We switched over to H's insurance in January and I finally told my boss last week. I have had the decision made for a while but it is so real now that it isn't a secret, anymore! I was home with Brett and Emma for their first 6 months. There were days I wanted to go back to work. But after experiencing both sides, I really think staying home is going to be less stressful and more rewarding. I know being a SAHM is really tough work, but balancing my family with a full time job has become too much for me. I commend all working parents, no matter how old your children are!!
  • That is so awesome. Congrats!!
