Home Inspection Tomorrow!
We have our home inspection tomorrow. I was just wondering if you guys had any advice? DH and I will both be there, along with our realtor. Should we take our camera as well? Take notes? We've never done this before and I'm just curious.
TIA! (FYI We're buying the house but want to be there at the inspection)
Re: Home Inspection Tomorrow!
Bring your camera and a notebook. There are tons of things the inspector will discuss with you as he goes along that are good to know, but won't make it into the final report. I would also bring a tape measure, so you can get an idea of how your furniture will fit.
One thing that I would definitely make note of, is the location of the plumbing clean-out, the electrical panel and the main water shut-off. I would also make sure that all of the doors and windows open and close properly and if you can, test the outdoor spigots and sprinkler system (if there is one). It was really cold when I bought my last property, so the inspector didn't check any of the exterior plumbing and when spring came, none of it worked. He also didn't inspect the windows very thouroughly, so he failed to notice (and so did I) that some of them were painted shut.
