not again (house going to auction)

I'm trying to buy a house and my offer (or rather my last counter on their counter on my first offer) has gone unanswered for a month (its a short sale with absent owners so the bank had been countering).  My last counter was 10% under their counter so we are pretty close to agreeing.... BUT just found out the house has been scheduled for public auction next month.  I found out through the newspaper.  The house's realtor didn't even know!

I think we're dealing with a serious communication breakdown

But the worst part is: This is the second time I house I am interested in got scooped up for auction! -last one I was the 2nd highest bidder so I lost :(

So next month, off I go to put in a bid.  At least the bank HAS to repond within a specific time frame so at least I'll know if it's rejected rather then just waiting and hearing nothing

Wish me luck!

  • Are you still living with ex? It really might be time to consider renting.

I've been saying that for a couple of months.   Or stop trying to purchase foreclosures and short sales.

  • Good luck! When it's meant to be, you'll get one! :)

Are you presently a homeowner?  If so, why don't you just kick that a$$clown out and stay where you are?  As you know, I'm still living with my a$$clown too.. but we need both paychecks in order to pay our mortgage... so we're hoping we can get our mortgages reduced after our divorce is final... then he's gonna move out.  If not, we'll have to do a short sale and I'll be renting somewhere. :(  But, it'll be better than living with him, that's for sure!

  • yep we're doing the same thing for the same reasons but I'll be moving out as I can't afford our marital house alone (and it's I'd rather have a smaller house: less to clean, heat furnish)

  • Yes we currently own our home and the refi should be done in the next couple of weeks..

I did look at a rental but it was pretty bad, so I'm keeping my eyes open
