Okay, so H is typically the cook in our house, which is great because I work later than he does, he loves to cook, and he's good at it. But, the downside to this is he's a freak about letting me cook when I want to. Okay, I know that I didn't have to cook for my whole family growing up - I was an only child with a single mom, but I'm not a bad cook!
Anyways, I was getting something ready to put into the crockpot so I could put it on as I was leaving for work in the morning, and it was FINE, but it's been about ten minutes of me sitting here on the computer while he's in the kitchen doctoring MY MEAL. And he does this all the time!!! It's super annoying, and we've talked about it, but I've gotten to the point where I just walk away because I can't freaking believe that he's doing it again!! I mean seriously, wtf???
/rant. Thanks for listening lol. I love him, I just get really super annoyed by some of the stuff he does >.<

My MIL does the same thing. To say it makes me stabby is an understatement.
I do 90% of the cooking in our house. H doesn't try to critique my cooking, but it used to bug me a lot that he douses his food in sriracha or wing sauce before even tasting it. He tells me all the time that I'm a great cook and he appreciates that I take the time to make us a real dinner, but how would you even know I'm a good cook when you aren't even eating my food you're eating straight up hot sauce... sweetheart...
But, that's my H. I'm used to it and it doesn't bug me anymore.

This is funny! James can cook very well, but he is also very messy. He says he cleans as he goes, but somehow I always end up doing TONS of clean up after he cooks.
I'm a SAHM, so there's not really any issue. I cook about 99.9% of the time. He does make his own breakfast and sometimes packs a lunch, but dinners are all me.
TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
merilee - my cousin does the same but with ketchup (no, she's not 5, she's almost 25, hah!). But I have a rule in my house, you MUST take ONE BITE as I prepared it before adding anything. That means no salt (unless I tell you I forgot again), no ketchup, no hot sauce, etc. Only exception is food that is meant to be spicey because I can't handle heat so I make it to my level and H is allowed to add more heat to his before tasting because he likes it much hotter.
And yes, that would make me stabby if someone did that to my cooking. Your H NEEDS to learn to dial back the control freak notch a tad. It's super rude and for me at least, if he made no effort to change, I would get massively resentful and that's not good for a relationship.

DH does this with hot sauce, ketchup and salt...depending on the food.
DH does this too. We're about 50/50 on cooking, but I do clean up as I go, DH makes an unbelievable mess. He sets down an spoon he's using, totally dirty on the counter, in different spots and then doesn't clean it up. So annoying.
But, we both try to "help" each other cook, and we both get annoyed by it. ; )
I'm very guilty of adding salt to my food that H has made before I taste it. At first he was irritated. And I now I get it, but he also now knows that I have one of the most insanely salty pallets that he has ever known and I could accidentally dump half a salt shaker on my food and be fine. It's kinda crazy. So he doesn't care anymore. If it's something brand new he's made, I always take one bite, but he's usually already handing me the salt, lol!
I think if your H wants to mess with your dish he should at LEAST ask you first. And if you say no, then hands off! This may take some training though.
This is my husband's rule too. I tend to add salt to everything. But I do taste the food before I do add. : )
