Article: Girl ate only chicken nuggets

from when she was 2 until she was 17. Big surprise - she collapsed at work and was taken to the hospital. Her mom says she even tried starving her to get her to eat something else, but it didn't work. WDYT?

Re: Article: Girl ate only chicken nuggets

  • I fully blame the mom for this. A 2 year old doesn't go to McDonalds and pick up chicken nuggets themselves.

My SIL has never eaten a fruit or a vegetable. She is 33. And I blame her parents as well.

  • I used to work with a guy who would only eat meat and potatoes.  Never ate a single vegetable.

There's a TV show here in the UK that shows adults who are really picky eaters.  There was one woman who only ate chips (french fries), and several people who would only eat pizza or bread.   These people would literally have panic attacks at the thought of eating veggies (yet wonder why they are always tired....)

The show does a full health assessment on them and shows them how poor their nutrition is, then uses psychologists and nutritionists to rehabilitate their diets.   I honestly think a lot of people don't realize that you need to eat a VARIETY of foods in order to get all of the nutrients you need to STAY ALIVE.

  • Totally the mom's fault. The article doesn't say when she tried "starving" her daughter. Was it at two years old but she couldn't handle her daughter whining for more than five minutes, or was it at fifteen when the daughter could pretty much go get the food on her own so it was a battle lost before it began? And who the heck paid for those nuggets through all of those formative years - the mom.

  • Working at a summer camp we had one girl who would eat bread and fruit loops oh and ice-cream. Yeh, healthy!

Ugh- I remember that UK show 'Picky Eaters' - I was completely fascinated by how someone who could ONLY eat chips or pizza every day for every meal for many, many years could possibly function. I was always amazed that these people weren't more sickly than they were.  If I don't have a vegetable or fruit after a day or two- I can totally feel my body feeling sluggish.

  • That is disgusting. The diet of only eating chicken nuggets and the fact that the mom continued to buy her kid McDonald's on a daily basis are both so gross.
  • Wow, really?  That girl never wanted anything other than chicken nuggets her whole life?  I get eating unhealthy, but that is extreme.

Obviously the parents are to blame, but didn't the girl have any interest in becoming healthy when she got a little older and realized how horrible her habits were?  I mean, I had a mandatory health class when I was 14 that explained what healthy living is all about.  I guess I just find this all pretty unbelievable.

  • The article does say she would also eat some fries (she's share a 20-nugget meal with her bf) and occasionally toast for breakfast. That makes it all better, right?

  • I honestly get weirded out when everything on my plate is the same color (like white, or brown, or whatever).  I try to eat at least a little bit of fruit or veggies at every meal...partially  because I know it's healthy, but mostly because I think a colorful plate makes my food look more appetizing.   Nuggets, fries, and toast....all the same color of white/brown.....ick.

  • I think I don't trust anything published by the Daily Mail.
  • I can't imagine how she felt every day. I feel like crud if/when I haven't had veggies in a while.
