first time cruise - a question about boarding
Does it matter when you board the boat?
I ask because our cruise leaves Sunday, 2/4. That's Super Bowl Sunday. And ordinarily I wouldn't care, but the Giants are playing and I'd like watch it, living in NYC and all.
So I'm really hoping that by the time kickoff happens in the evening, we'll be able to watch it from a bar on the ship or something.
I swim because I'm too damned sexy for a sport that requires real clothing.
Re: first time cruise - a question about boarding
what does the boarding info say? usually you can board starting many hours before departure and upto 1 or 2 hours before.
fyi if you ahve a laptop the ships have wifi. put it on the laptop if you can't watch it in the bar. it's on nbc so it will be streaming live.
Do you have a typo in your date? 2/4 is Saturday or 2/5 is Sunday.
Normally you can start boarding between 11-1 (sometimes a little earlier we normally aim for this window) the docs will have a later time, but most lines start boarding after the ship has been cleared from the previous sailing. You just need to be in board at least 90 minutes prior to sailing. You should be on long before kick off. When we've sailed over SB Sunday the cruiseline (rccl) had the game on in the one lounge (not the main theatre but a decent sized room) as well as in several of the bars
Cancer sucks.
i've sailed on SB Sunday before and had the same issues when the Steelers were playing. We just boarded the ship whenever (the ship was set to sail before the kickoff anyways). We were on a Princess ship that had a bigscreen on the pool deck (for their Movies Under the Stars offering), so it was packed with people watching the games in their jerseys. If you are sailing on a newer / bigger ship, chances are they will have the outdoor bigscreen.
it was really fun. the pool bar was selling beers in little mini football coolers.
Yes it's a typo - I meant Sunday 2/5.
But thanks everyone! We'll be decked out in red and blue Giants gear. Go G-men!
Coast Guard regulations require everyone to be on board at least 1.5 hours before departure. You can usually start boarding between 11 & 1.
I'm sure the game will be on the bars on board.
Happy viewing!
