Juneville G2G

I posted this at the end of the Map for G2G post but I think it should be in its own thread.

Here's my 2 cents, It seems like if we go to a typical tourist destination like Vegas, Disney or a Cruise we are all going to have to be split up into separate rooms (who knows if we could get a block of rooms together or not) and we might all want to do different things. I know in Vegas I would be interested in going to Cirque de Soliel and eating at the 4 star restaurants while others might want to gamble and go to a comedy show or ride the Paris roller coaster or shop etc. On cruise ships there are 1001 things so I can see us getting very divided. I think that renting a big ol' beach house that sleeps all of us is the way to go. Everyone could have a little "job"... it can be like Juneville for a weekend :) some people can cook/grocery shop, some people can arrange activities like sandcastle contests or bikeriding, I could teach a yoga class, someone could prep a craft lesson, we can all go to the beach together... we all talk about Juneville all the time, I say we make it happen! The end :)

  • (Copy & pasted from the GTG Map thread)

Have I told you lately that I love you?

I know there are at least a few girls that would be concerned about the cost of a cruise or Vegas (myself included)...plus, the trip is about us hanging out and all spending time together...so a giant beach house is an awesome idea. I definitely volunteer to cook a few meals as long as I have some help! :)

hahahaha. The bold part made me laugh because I was thinking the same thing.

I couldn't agree more, hydrangea. I also am deathly afraid of cruise ships and large boats, as well as concerned about cost. This sounds like a lot of fun to me - because then we could all 'live' together for a little while which is what we all clearly do all day around here anyways. I'll be taking your yoga lesson fyi ;) also.. I volunteer to be a part of the breakfast making crew!

  • I'm game!  I think getting together at a lake/beach house would be perfect. This way we can tailor the weekend to us.  Yoga, cooking, crafts, swimming, talking into the wee hours of the morning.  Whatever we want to do.
  • Maybe we should call MTV and start our own show! haha J/K!!

I love that idea I was thinking the same thing about vegas and cruise ship (even though I said cruise) it is all so big its so easy to get split up. And even if a few of us decide to go on the boardwalk and other want to go shopping at least we'd all end up seeing each other back at the house.

I will set up a craft time!!! I love making bath salts and its probably one of the easiest group activites ever :)

And we need at least 5 crock pots to come along haha

Hahahaha!  Too funny!  I love love love Juneville and the idea of the beach house!  I'm already looking forward to this!  I cannot wait!

  • I am in complete agreement with all of the above.  Does anybody want to the job of looking for some options for us?  Maybe if we have a few options, we can just do a vote.

    Kim, I'll help cook!

  • I think once we pin down a place to meet up - then we can look at beach houses. Off the top of my head I know we can rent for a decent price in Outerbanks, NC, Cape May, NJ, and some places in FL. I'm familiar with Cape May and the Outerbanks - but if we decide on FL one of our FL ladies can look for us.

ETA: Forgot to include the West Coast too - didn't do that on purpose. If somebody finds something good on the West Coast I'm game for that as well. Those places were just ones off the top of my head.

I started looking on VRBO.com, but we really need to have a location narrowed down, # of people (to estimate cost/find the right size), and how long we want to make this GTG.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but it looks like something more on the east or southern coast would be "central"ish (sorry Becca & Cali ladies), unless some of you are aware of some awesome lake areas we could look into that would be a bit more central?

(FYI, I'm really not good at making decisions for other people...lol)

  • This is such a wonderful idea!  Kim, we could also check on HomeAway.com.  A friend of mine uses this site to book lots of vacations throughout the year and has had great experiences.  I think this will be a lot of fun!

Yeah, looking on the map, we're pretty South/Eastern heavy, so I think it makes more sense.  If we find something now, booking flights, etc should be pretty cheap.  HOLY COW, I'M EXCITED.

I think the first thing we need is a semi-accurate head count.  This can help narrow down the search.  Where would central be to the people who are coming? We can't get too far ahead of ourselves.  If we rent a hosue that can fit 30 people and only 10 come, then that's alot of extra space (and money).

  • Vacationrentals.com is good too thats where I found our house for our HM. Are we definitely looking for the beach? There is usually more to do by a beach vs. by a lake.

We need to get a MOD on here to make a sticky so we can get a head count of who would be interested. Even if we are planning for next year its really never too early to get started. It would take the renting, the food organizing, sleeping arrangements, home arrangments etc. And I'd say it should be at least 4 days beucase for some to just go for Saturday and Sunday would be a waste of money espeically if they'd be flying in.

  • You ladies are so awesome! =)

Out of curiosity, did we decide just a girls trip, or hubbys too? Not that mine would probably want to go. lol

I know rentals from my home town tend to be about $1500-2500 a week depending on size/pet friendliness/how close to the ocean, etc. I know for Cali that's really cheap (San Diego tends to be over $3000 a week) but I'm not sure about everywhere else.

It would be nice to go somewhere that at least one of us is familiar with though! That way we have a tour guide of sorts!

  • I agree completely!

I would also like to take some cooking lessons from all of you amazing ladies!!

This almost sounds like Juneville summer camp to me!! Awesome!!

edit - Should we contact the knot and tell them we are doing this?  Didn't someone mention they have helped out some groups?

  • We are going to have so much fun! I'm good at baking, so I can make a bunch of goodies.
  • I think something else we should keep in mind is ease to fly in to someplace, if there are people who are going to fly someplace with a fairly major airport to keep cost down would be nice.

  • I completely agree! I am all good sitting on the beach, cooking, crafting, yoga, or other activites! I vote beach house somewhere.
  • Outer Baaaanks!!! :)  If we did that, I could chip in more to help out with the costs of others since I'm only 3 hrs away.

I've heard it is gorgeous there :)

  • I am excited. I think relaxing on the beach would be great

I can help bake and cook. I love to do both.

Also, if we are going to make something like bath salts (or any bath products for that matter) I am willing to help and can supply some of the stuff. Like scents. I'm an aromatherapist and have a ton of different scents (I carry about 600). Also, it sounds like between all the crafty-ness that we have we could always have something going on.

I love the idea of getting together, eating some good food, doing some crafts, maybe a little yoga and having some great conversation.

  • This is exciting!!! I can't believe this is really going to happen!!
