I feel like there have been several ladies here who have started new jobs (kari, Leo, JoShan), started businesses (reba, cortneyloo I think? Or who was the one with the bake shop?) or otherwise had career steps/moves recently (kaesha, and maybe dora?). I'm sure I missed a bunch, sorry!
Anyway, care to update how things are going? JoShan seems to be having fun, at least

Re: Career updates?
I did accept a new job and start on February 15th. I have 8 days left to work out at my current job and they will probably be the longest 8 days ever.
I'm going to take some time off in between jobs and spend some extra time in Alaska to see family.
The new gig should be interesting, it's a position that is being created so I will have a lot of say on how it is structured. It has the potential for some travel to trade shows and events as well. I'll still be doing marketing, but in the IT industry instead of engineering.
I'm late, but I'll update anyway. Today was awesome! We started with Universal Studios and ended with Islands of Adventure. I was able to do Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey for the first time ever. OH. MY. GOD. As much as I love Disney, they just haven't got anything close to this. I literally cried during the ride. For a Harry Potter fan there is just nothing that can transport you to Hogwarts like this thing. I can't even explain it's awesomeness.
For those who may have been considering a move to Florida, I suggest the central part of the state and a job at Universal :-)

Well that was a crazy couple of years.

Great post, Ringy. I have been wondering the same thing about how all the Nestie career ventures are going. And yes it was me that started baking on the side...good memory! My little business has actually been flourishing
It still shocks me sometimes that people want to pay me for something I enjoy doing anyway! Things were starting off slow at first and I was beginning to think my idea was silly, but I decided to send nicely decorated sample cupcakes with my hubby to his workplace and also to some school faculty in the area via my teacher friends and I've been steady ever since. I got a couple orders from that gesture alone and then word of mouth and referrals have been a godsend. My business is not lucrative enough yet to completely quit my day job (although I'm really working on it because my job has been horrible lately!) but between the baking and dance choreography clinics I teach I've been able to drop down to part time without worrying about loss of income so I feel good about that. I'm just waiting to see what the future holds.
Joshan-I bet working at Universal would be a blast! Except I would just want to ride the rides all day haha
Leo-congrats on your sale! That's uber exciting!!
Leo - I had no idea you had an etsy business. For the other ladies with little things like that, I'd love to get a link. It's always good to know of some small-town places to shop at.
I finally heard back from my interview. An inside scoop told me I got the position, but the boss finally called to say they were interested. They'll be in touch within the month to give me a formal offer and talk about future plans. I'm excited. It's a paralegal position for now, but it gets me out of this crap shoot and into the field I paid a lot of money to train for. Hopefully it becomes an associate position some day. My favorite part? It cuts my commute down about 20 minutes, and no highways. So excited for that.
I have registered to take the last part of my certification exam. YIKES i'm nervous. It's a lot of hand drafting. I don't do a lot of that these days. So it's all about timing.
Once that is all settled I'm going to get a website up and running for invitations. I was doing pretty good for a while but then studying for my exam made made me put that on the back burner. I really enjoy it and it's something that let's me be creative in another way.
Congrats snoop! I know a lot of firms refuse to hire anyone with a JD for a paralegal position so that's quite an accomplishment!

This is such a great thread!
I had to apply for my headship again last week. This year, I've been serving as interim head, because I hadn't completed my specialist in drama yet, but I finished that up in December, and now I'm in until September 2013, when I have to reapply for the position again! It's a 3 year contract, and I think my principal will continue to give it to me regardless of who else applies, so it's nice to have those apples lined up.

I'm late on this, but I'll chime in.
I've become the district field trainer for management and new store openings... I travel a lot and have a lot of tranees in my store, which is stressful, but also a great opportunity for more growth... Hopefully I will get to a point for promotion to district manager in the next couple of years.
I am headed to Shreveport, LA in March and Ft Myers, FL to our corporate headquarters in April. I can't wait! (At least it's not Oklahoma again!)
