First anniversary of Thundersnow!
How will you celebrate the first anniversary of Thundersnow?
Hopefully not by sleeping in your office (as I did) or spending 10 hours in a car (as my husband, and many others, did).
I'm all sentimental. Let's make it a drinking holiday.
I knew I'd be able to laugh about it one day...
Re: First anniversary of Thundersnow!
I can't believe what a clusterfuuck that was.
I loved it! But then again, I only had to drive 3 miles from work.
Crazy how a year can be soooo different. What is it, like, 50 degrees today? lol
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
I'm all about making it a drinking holiday.
Call me crazy but I am kinda bummed there was no snowstorm this year :-( And I normally have to go into work the day after, but I still miss it...
Be careful what you wish for! February rarely disappoints...

That weather event actually worked out for me. My boss, who is all about working 'til the last possible second, let me go after the initial rush and just in time to get DD before traffic was TOO bad (and before the hill up to daycare became impassable for my car). By the time the snow was getting bad, DD and I were at the dining room table while she was having dinner, and DH got home not long after.
DH spent the night texting a friend who thought he'd work 'til 6 or so and spent 6 or 8 hours driving home to 7 Corners. I'll have a drink to him and the rest of you who had a rough time of it.

I'm probably having a baby in February, I need clear roads!!
There has been a huge snowstorm this week for the past 3 years. I know, because it has practically ruined DD's birthday EVERY SINGLE YEAR!
2009 = ice storm (which resulted in VERY cranky maternity ward nurses.)
2010 = huge snowstorm
2011 = thundersnow
Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather tomorrow and Saturday... please!
I made my husband come home early & he grumbled....until the news stories started of all these stuck people.
Wives know best, duh!
Uh, don't remind me! My dad came in from Korea that evening. After an 18 hour flight, he spent another 8 hours in the car to get from Dulles to Gaithersburg. Worst travel experience ever for him.
I have to say, I don't mind the fact that we haven't had any major snow storms yet this year.
My boss had offered me a ride. So I spent all of those hours in the car with my boss (who is not the best at driving in snow/ice, but I didn't say anything even when we had to back 20+ feet down an exit ramp on 66). Poor DH had to walk 3 miles in that stuff in leather dress shoes.
I would love to celebrate, but the inlaws arrive in town tonight... At least I'll have a free babysitter this weekend!
We got let out of school early and I made it home just as it started to snow. I spent most of the night on the phone with my sister though. It took her almost 5 hours to get the 8 miles from Tysons to her N Arlington apartment.

Lol...alright Bh720 I take it back
I guess this just shows how "new mom sleep deprived" I was because I don't really remember much about that storm! All I can recall is we lost power for days (big surprise) and eventually wound up driving out to NoVA with our 5 week old baby, 2 cats, and dog to stay with my parents.
