  • bwahahahaha.  I forget not everyone on here is friends with my husband, who overshares so much on Facebook that it's made me share less bc he annoys meStick out tongue  he posted a picture of it.

But yes, we did get one!  We were test driving for about a month - he liked the hondas, I liked the toyotas, and neither of us liked the Chryslers (they were fine, but not compared to the toyotas or hondas) but they were so much cheaper we thought we'd have to get one, until we found a good deal on a toyota at carmax and so went the next day to get it before it got sold.  I love it!

H loves it too - he was all "ew a minivan."  Then we went to my parents this weekend, and he kept saying "look how much room we still have, even wtih all the crap you packed!!!"  and he also realized part of the reason our lab, Jackson is so antsy in the car (he whines almost constantly, always tries to get in the front seat, etc) is because he is not comfortable, which I have been saying for almost a year - SoBoh plops himself down on the back seat and takes up most of it, and Jackson just has to squeeze in somewhere and can't lay down, etc.  so now one of them goes on the seats, Jackson can lay on the floor between the front seats if he wants, and there is the third row as well which SoBoh likes but I don't think Jackson knows its there yet ha. So all of a sudden driving with the dogs is infinitely less stressful, and H is all "wow, I didn't realize it would make such a difference" and I'm all "told you so, told you so!"

So fun times in our household, hahaha.  Now we just have to "get rid" of the Vue (H's mom is buying it from us for his little sister, but we have to get it to new jersey over the next month or so.)

  • I say I'll never get a minivan but I am so jealous of the automatic doors.

Why didn't you like the chryslers Becky? This is what DH is trying to convince me we should get. His reasoning is that we can get the fully pimped out one for cheap cheap cheap-leather seats, DVD player, etc. He's making me go test drive one. He's all about "most bang for your buck" so I am just curious to get your take on it since it sounds like you test drove a few.

Well that was our thing with them - we could get a very nice for the same price as a bottom of the line Honda and a mid-line Toyota.  (the Toyotas, btw, get the best reviews in Consumer Reports for the used ones.)  the hondas were the most expensive.  (as in, the ones in our price range didn't even have power sliding doors. thats part of the reason I wanted one!)

Now, if you dont drive the Hondas and Toyotas you will probably like the Chryslers. My parents have a Dodge (and their van before this one was a Dodge), my brother and SIL have a Dodge - we have nothing against Dodges/Chryslers and I was all about getting one bc they are cheaper.

But they drive..........well, like a minivan.  Kind of rattly, you can tell the car is not as well made, the stow-and-go seats are a very nice feature but it means the seats are much less comfortable, even in the front (which obviously aren't stow-and-go) and they just do not handle the way the Toyotas or Hondas did.  We drove several Toyotas and Hondas and thought "ooh these are nice, not really minivan-like at all" - they have good power, they handle well and so on.  And then we drove a Chrylser and we were like, oh.  They aren't bad, they just drive like you would expect a minivan to drive. My Toyota is fun to drive so far bc it handles well and has good pickup, etc.

so ultimately for us the issue became that the price difference wasn't worth it.  We found that for similar models, with similar mileage and features, we would only pay a few thousand more for a toyota which was okay in our minds bc they get significantly better reviews, we preferred them so much more, and they last longer.  So the tradeoff in price seemed worth it.

so again - not that the Chryslers were horrible, just once we drove the toyotas and hondas, we were not that impressed with the chryslers. Had we only driven the chryslers, we probably would have figured "oh okay" and gotten one.

The automatic doors are allllll kinds of awesome.  Definitely one of my favorite features. :)

MrsBecky, have fun w/ your van!  My ILs have a Sienna that they love.  I always said I wasn't into a minivan, but since we've gotten our Odyssey, I LOVE it.  Makes life so much easier w/ 2 dogs and a baby, plus now w/ Thing 2 almost here, it makes so much sense.  Traveling is so much more comfortable, too!

  • I am so happy for you that you got your minivan!! And are loving it!
  • We test drove all of the minivans too and I couldn't agree with you more, there is no comparison.  We both liked the Sienna best and probably will get that when we need more room.  I loved the Highlander though and am trying to enjoy a few years of how comfortable it is.  I love the keyless entry and the automatic liftgate for when I'm dealing with getting Keefer into his crate.

I saw the picture on facebook and it is very pretty.  I'm glad you are enjoying it.
