Re: s/o looking your age
I think we're only looking at the outside here. Their insides probably look quite different.
The woman on the right probably uses a ton of beauty products to keep moisture in her skin and to tighten wrinkles as well as for her hair.
The woman on the right probably doesn't because it's hard to find potent skincare and haircare products that aren't cruelty free and organic.
Hah!
Not true! Most of the upper-line products are cruelty-free and made with sustainable resources these days.
It's the body fat, it really is. After a certain age, not only does it fill in the appearance of wrinkles, but the fat becomes one of your main sources of estrogen after menopause, since it's not being produced by your ovaries any more. It's good for you!
I grew up in the land of aging hippies. Hippies do not age well.
Pass me the beauty products please. Extra endangered plant pollen please.
I don't know about that --- there was a woman in our area who died recently; she was in her mid80s and very well known in the area as a ballet instructor/dance studio owner.
She was a dancer her whole life, perhaps since the age of 7.
The obit in the paper featured a fairly recent photo -- She looked fantastic and had a figure like a young girl's -- there has to be something to dance and doing it as a lifelong hobby/sport/committment.
Love.
I think its genetics as well. Could be make up and/or photoshop too. But who know.
I don't think I look fifty one. I do agree with the weight thing though; my face is reasonably full, and it keeps things pretty smooth.
I do a fair amount of upkeep. Monthly glycolic acid peels, cut and color, brow wax, lash dyeing, etc etc.
I think sun exposure is more to blame here than anything else.
And Nigella is all dood-ed up for a press photo.
I'd like to see their hands, all of the truth about a woman's life and age is in them.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Also did you guys see my hot 70 year old mom?
I get agitated that (particularly on F&B) so many people on TN have such a weird sense of aging and attractiveness and what is 'old'.
Someone referred to Vera Wang as an Old Biddy! I couldn't believe it.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Your mom looks awesome!
I don't think I look my age either. I get carded all the time. When I was 21, I did one of those guess your age booths and the guy thought I was 12. That sucked.
DH is 50 and he looked like he was 12-18 years old until he turned 43 or so. His college graduation pictures are hilarious, child genius!
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
LOL ESD. What did you win?
How often do you hear this line (usually after someone realizes that they've just said something insulting): You'll appreciate it when you get to be myage/40/50/sometimeinthefuture.
This body fat theory is making me wonder if that is why I suddenly have undereye wrinkles?
Do I just start eating to get back to my previous size 26? If it means my face will be wrinkle free?
I'M SO TORN!
Currently Reading: Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes
Lol, interesting.
My mom (who recently lost 60 pounds and went from an 18/20 to an 8) has had a dramatic increase in facial wrinkles. She's 55 and now looks a lot older. It really is fat distribution and lifestyle.
People tell me I look a lot younger than I am, at 28. But meh. I have laugh lines already. Once I hit goal weight, I'll let you guys know if wrinkles suddenly show up.
Just look at Sarah Jessica Parker. She got super skinny and aged 10 years all at the same time.
