I can't tell anyone else because DH and I are keeping it a secret until it officially closes.
It is a short sale with two banks involved (groan) so I know it could take a long time.
Anyone had experience with short sales? I have no idea which two banks are involved, I just got word that we had approval tonight.
I want to get excited but I don't want to get my hopes up, y'know??

Re: Seller accepted offer!
Congrats! Good luck on the rest of the process. I hope it's not to long before you hear anything.
Yay!
We're in escrow on a short sale. The offer was accepted by the seller right away, and the banks accepted within a month. In fairness, though, we knew that the bank had declared our offer amount an acceptable bid, so we figured that they'd accept it quickly. If it hadn't been for the offer going in right before the holidays, I think we would have entered escrow earlier.
Do you know if the seller had already applied to the bank(s) to make the sale a short sale? If not, that'll draw out the length of time to decision.
I am pretty positive he has already applied to the banks to make it a short sale, it feels like a really organized process, and I'm hoping that the banks say yes within a couple of months. I don't mind waiting; we rent month-to-month and are in no rush. This little house is just perfect, I just want a solid answer
We offered full price with seller to pay $3,000 of closing costs. I hope that goes through okay with the banks.
Congratulations!
We are also keeping our sale/purchase pretty quiet. The only people who know are people we see regularly... Now that we're closing next week, a couple people I know have posted on FB things about "GL with your move!" etc, but we're close enough to it that we aren't as concerned.
