T&P for my cat :(
sorry in advance, my phone wont let me capitalize or add apostrophes or paragraphs...i am at the vet with mac right now. he hasnt been eating, and when i got up today he was dehydrated and not really moving around. usually as soon as the vet walks into the room, he starts calling her every name in the book, but today he just looked at her. he didnt even flinch when she was looking for a vein in his neck or when she drew blood from his leg. he wont leave my lap and is purring. i am so worried about him. he is my soulmate cat and i would be a mess if something happened to him. i love him so much. i will keep you updated, but in the meantime, i am asking for all of the thoughts and prayers you can give.

You know you are in trouble when they don't give the vet grief. Here's to hoping that fluids & antibiotics are all he needs to make a swift recovery!
Of course you have to make a decision that you feel is best. However I will say from experience that the feeding tube (E-tube) is not that bad. It all depends on his prognosis. If it is cancer or some other terminal condition then that changes the game. Malnutrition or fluid balance you can treat.
Sending you lots of love. It is not easy when our furry friends are suddenly ill.
This. My older kitty had crazy liver levels - I thought he was dying. he just laid around and didn't move. He did a feeding tube and some fluids and we were able to get him back to the right levels. Sending T&Ps for both of you.
This makes me feel so much better. They found out that it was his liver and are keeping him overnight and giving him fluids and food and all that. They said they'll know the prognosis within 24 hours and will call to keep me updated throughout the day.
I'm so scared. He's the only one who is MY cat. Matchbox and Wasabi love me, but they don't love me the way Mac did. They're more DH's cats than they are mine. Mac was my boy, and he only cared about me.
So sorry you are going thru this. Is anyone there with you?
It hurts so bad when you don't know what is wrong with your pet and you don't know how to help them.

I was there alone but I feel really comfortable with my vet. I called my husband to talk about what we should do. I called both of my parents and am doing a little better, but I'm still so broken up. I am terrified that I will have to put him to sleep.
I know how you feel. Chin up if you can until you get a better lay of the land. It won't help you if you freak just yet. Is there something you can do to distract yourself until the news comes in? Minecraft? Warcraft? (yes I am a dirty lurker on your blog BV lol)

DH is home for lunch right now. I am dying my hair (because it really was just a hodgepodge of horridness with pink and purple and bleached blonde and awful roots, at this point), and after that's all done it'll be nearly time for work, and tonight there's a Magic tournament, so it will be busy enough for me to stay distracted. The vet is going to call around 2 or 3 and then again around 7 tonight, and again tomorrow morning, so I'll have plenty of updates.
My vet is one of the best in the country. She gives talks at the AVMA conferences on exotics (rats, mostly--mine have been pictured in her lectures) and is incredibly intelligent and clearly cares about the animals, so I definitely trust her to do what's best.
The vet called at about 12:30 and said that they had put him on his fluids and gave him something to help relax him. They put some food with him to see if he'll eat on his own, but if he doesn't they'll hook him up with some. So I haven't heard anything about better/worse yet. Fingers just crossed right now.
