Help name baby boy RGV.[Poll]
Re: Baby Boy Names (poll)
Thanks girls. I really don't know what to do. DH really wants to name him Manuel Alejandro. I like Alejandro but not so sure on Manuel being the first name. With Alessandra, I really like Giselle better than Alessandra, but for some reason we call her Alessandra. Maybe because she's more of an Alessandra than a Giselle haha. Then I really like the name Andre. I had told him about Andre Camilo and we both like it and agreed that if it would be a boy that would be his name and we were all happy (Well, not my dad. He didn't like the name Camilo). Well, the day I found out it was a boy he started calling him Manuel.
Then one night we were at his parents and MIL asked if we had a name, and he said he would be called Manuel Alejandro. Everyone seemed to be SO happy and started to comment on how Dh had chosen that name long time ago and his dream was coming true. I really tried to stay quiet and not say anything, but MIL wouldn't stop so I had to tell her that I didn't like the name. Then Dh aunt started saying how she wanted to name her son but her H (FIL's brother) named him something else. Then she said the same thing happened with their second son. All this time I'm thinking well, that's too bad, but I'm naming my child a name with a name that I like. Then they asked who had named Alessandra and I was happy to answer that Dh had named her after two of his favorite VS angels and I had simply agreed because I liked both names. Then they just all stayed quiet and just said that we should both pick the name.
Same thing happened last night at his cousins but they were on my side. They said that I need to like the name. DH couin said that his wife hadn't named their son after him and his father because there were too many Rafael in the family. I feel the same way! There are too many Manuels in the family. My brother is Emanuel, his dad is Manuel, Dh is Manuel, SIL, son is Manuel n and those are just close family.
I really wish DH would stop and think that I have to like the name too. I've told him many times that we need to compromise and we both need to like the name. At the end, I'm not going to name my child a name that I don't like. After all, I am the one who has to wake up at night to feed and change diapers, even if I have to go to work the next day. Several times he gave me the excuse that he couldn't help me at night because he had to go to work the next morning. Umm yeah and I have to wake up in the morning to feed the baby. So I just stop asking for help, if I saw he was too tired. I told him about that too and he says that this time he will be off because we'll have the baby in the summer (he's a school teacher) and that he will help alot. He said all I had to do was BF. hahah Yeah right! DH is really nice and sweet, and I know that at night his sleep apnea has to do alot with him not being able to wake up many times. He just doesn't rest the way most of us do. But I still think that part of him should be alert in case the baby or I need something.
Be honest. Do you think I'm being selfish?
Oh, and my dad calls the baby Carlos Vicente(vicente after himself) and my mom Carlos Eduardo. Haha I really like Carlos Eduardo but DH doesn't like it. I told DH that we should name him Carlos Manel (Carlos after his grandfather) because I really like the name Carlos. He said NO because there are too many Carlos in the family! haha Is he serious?!? I know! hihi I will tell MIL of Carlos Manuel since Carlos was the name of her father and get her on my side haha.
Aww I like Carlos Manuel, because I could call my baby Carlitos. Aww.
Ahhh!! Yes! that's my baby's name!
Thanks for helping girls.
If you both like Andre Camilo, then who cares what your dad thinks of the middle name? You and DH both like it, so tune out everyone else in the family.
I'm sorry you're dealing with all this name stress. I'm not looking forward to trying to figure out names at all!
You guys are just going to have to come to an agreement. You are not being selfish, this is your child too!
With Aud, DH liked Annie better but I told him I would always regret not naming her Audrey. We went with Audrey and we are so happy with it.
I really love Amelia when we have another but he is NOT on board with that name.
You guys have to compromise and agree....either one of you shouldn't have to feel that you don't like the name as he grows up.
And believe me we fought hard over Ava's name...(others leading up to it) and had a little fighting over this, but since it was a girl it was much easier.
I would sit him down and have a heartfelt talk about how disrespectful it was for him to tell his parents a name that you hadn't agreed on and then even after that talk to do it again with his cousins. To me he was trying to be sneaky and get them on board so later you could tell them no and I'm glad you told them no and I'm glad you told them that he named Alessandra too.
