This is how we do science

I'm at a school that is doing a science parade. They have this hard core science rap with major bass and the kids are dropping it like its hot to a song about convection. I am not sure what they're learning ut its sure fun.  I didn't even know they had fresh educational jams.

Re: This is how we do science

  • That's awesome.

We used to rap in my high school French class.  It was actually a really good way to learn things.

  • My class made a rap for DARE in grade school. I still remember the beginning of it.

    I won't do drugs, can't you see

Cause I know they're not good for me

When you take drugs you start off slow

But there's something that you should know

Your problems grow, your friends say bye

Cause they don't know you when you're high

  • My elementary school class turned that 50 Nifty United States song into a rap/cheer and I can still remember a lot of the states in alphabetical order.

I read "convection" as "conjunction" at first and started singing "conjunction junction, what's your function..."

I hate you a little bit right now. This will be stuck in my head all day.

Regardless, I really think it's neat when education can relate to kids on their level. And music is a great tool for memory- we did a lot of songs in Spanish when I was in highschool, and I still remember most of the words. Most importantly, it keeps students engaged and interested, which is invaluable in education.

  • I once had a solo in an elementary school rap song entitled, "Lean Green Air Machine."  It was about plants turning CO2 into clean air.

  • I love stuff like that.

A friend and I wrote a rap one night on the phone when we were in high school. I  think it was about "Of Mice and Men."

I also still remember the definition for hematopoesis because a friend sang it to the tune of Hakuna Matata while we were studying for our Bio exam.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • Haha, this thread reminds me of this guy, who is awesome by the way:
