Tell me about the Cosmopolitan in Vegas

DH has a work conference there in May and I'm thinking about going with him.  Thoughts?

Re: Tell me about the Cosmopolitan in Vegas

  • I'm staying there next month with my sister so I can't wait to see the responses to this post.
  • Stayed there twice on "staycation" and it's my favorite (and over my 30 years here, I've stayed pretty much everywhere). Awesome vibe, fantastic food, always some sort of live music going on in the bars/lounges. Make sure you request an East tower room, as those have views of the Bellagio. For food, I've eaten at every single restaurant there and my favorite is Jaleo (don't miss the gambas). Also, Blue Ribbon Sushi has a really cool atmosphere (although I don't like sushi, their fried chicken is legit). Let me know if you have other specific questions.

  • imageAMAZING!!! we went there in June and had the BEST time!! we actually won the trip when we went to a taping of the rachael ray show, so that made it even better :-)

the rooms are beautiful! they were supposed to be condos, so they are all like mini suites with huge bathrooms, kitchen/living room area, and balconies with such awesome views of the strips- so pretty at night!!

there are at least 2, maybe 3 pools right there. both are really nice. one is quieter, more relaxing and the other one is more of a "party" pool with air hockey tables and stuff all around the deck.

there are a bunch of great restaurants right there-- our dinner at STK (steakhouse) was one of the best meals i've ever had. the italian place was also good, and so was Holsteins for burgers. one of the cool parts of our prize was that we got $200 food money ( so between dh and i we had $400 to spend there) we definitley took advantage! LOL

the whole place was so beautiful and clean and such a cool "vibe"- you'll LOVE it!!image

Thanks for the info!  Since DH will be in conferences during the day, I'll likely be at the pool.  I've never been to Vegas, so I don't know how the pool scene works there.  Are there cover charges?  Do you have to reserve a spot?

nope, no cover for the pools at the cosmo. they check your room key to make sure you are actually staying there- but thats all you need :-) have fun!!

  • I trust Brit&Nate.

I've not stayed, but I've visited the hotel several times and really love the vibe.  You can see some photos I took here.

We've eaten at China Poblano and Holsteins.

  • No cover for the pools, but the chairs will fill up quick, so it's in your best interest to get up there early to reserve a spot. Also, the grill out by the pool is actually really good. Make sure you grab a slice of pizza at the secret pizza place (near Blue Ribbon). They're open late, like 4am and the slices are cheap. Hit up Holsteins and get a Cereal Bowl milkshake :) The room service menu is good, especially the fried chicken and waffles at 2am when you've had a bit to drink :)

  • All I know is I cannot wait to stay there, it sounds amazing from everything I've heard and from pics.  I love the idea of the soaker tub w/ window, and the terrace.  Sigh...hopefully this summer.

Balbacm gives it rave reviews as well, she'll probably chime in here.

  • i've stayed all over the strip.  The Cosmo easily ranks as my favorite hotel experience in Vegas, and definitely in my top 3 throughout the US.  It is awesome you can stay here for free!

view from our kiddie-pool sized bathtub (please excuse the Miller Lite pounder):

View from our terrace (we had better views of the fountains at the Cosmo than when we had a fountain view room at the Bellagio):

I enjoyed the Wicked Spoon (champagne brunch/buffet) but think that the Wynn's is better.  STK was very good but prefer SW Steakhouse over it.  Still managed to clean my plates at both places ;)

There is also a "hidden" pizza place on the 3rd floor that is supposed to be very good.  It isn't on any map and you have to ask around to find it.

Great location, fun casino and dealers, very trendy and fun.  You are definitely getting spoiled on your first trip to Vegas!  Enjoy your trip!!  I wish we got better comps here, otherwise we'd never stay anywhere else in Vegas.

I think we need to go back and try again.

When we were there, we walked around for about 20 minutes and left. It looked like they were casting for The Real World there. Lots of skanks and wannabe rich boys. We haven't been back since. lol

haha!   yeah, I got that vibe on the Saturday night over our stay.  Very clubby, young, loud crowd, (coming from the 31 year old who was wearing a t-shirt from J Crew at the time).   The other evenings were your typical Vegas mix-  people in track suits and fanny packs and other people in cocktail dresses and Jimmy Choos.

The pizza place is on the third floor to the left of the elevator (when you're looking at it). Just follow the hallway lined with records :)

There is a large "douche" population there, but I'm willing to overlook it because of all the benefits of the hotel. Also, it makes for AMAZING people watching at 1am :)

  • The PP's have pretty much covered everything, but I wanted to chime in and say that we loved it, too. Sure there is a decent douche-y contingent, but if you look beyond that, it's an awesome hotel. It was our first visit to Vegas and both MH and I loved it. We only ate at Holestein's but it was definitely fabulous!

  • I was there last year for a conference and had the best time. I've stayed at a bunch of places on the strip but this was one of the best. The staff were super friendly (I've encountered some not so friendly ones at other places) the food is great, I really loved Holsteins, it was unexpected that it was so good as I thought it was just a burger place. The whole vibe is fun, you'll have a good time
  • The Cosmo is pretty amazing. they have a day club and a night club. of course super long lines and an amazing casino inside. your obviously right off of the strip and by a lot of malls. i would recommend going to the fashion show mall and the mall at ceasers palace. i am stationed in las vegas, so  i know quite a bit about it. also around you is New York New York and they have a ton of cool shows for you and your hubby to watch or just you by yourself. also if your into old rock cover bands, they have the steel panthers which usually play on fridays or saturdays at The House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. usually starts at 1130 pm if your the partying type.
