Juneville GTG

I know we decided next summer, but what month?  I say we try to avoid June as there are college and high school graduations and of course, anniversaries to plan around.  May late July or early August?  DEFINITELY not July 4 if we're doing a beach.  Not only is that more expensive, but it's crazy chaotic.  AND, depending on when these Juneville babies are born, we have first birthdays to plan around.

Re: Juneville GTG

  • I guess I don't have a huge preference. I agree with you on the 4th I'd rather there not be swarms of people on a mini-vacation. I'd say late June is usually a good time to travel since it's not too hot yet and it'll be after most graduations happen. Early August could work too - although I know it tends to start thunderstorming more often as the end of summer approaches.
  • I think late July (Weekend of the 20th or 27th) or early August (August 3rd-ish) would be best. Bryson & Baby B should have their birthdays by then, right?

Yes ma'am.  Did Salty say yes or no?  Oh wait, I think Brit said no anyway. Any word from DW?

Brit said she'd be up for a Chicago GTG, but would feel bad leaving her H alone with the baby while she goes and has fun. Salty said no because flying to the east coast (& crossing the Canadian border) would probably be too expensive. I don't think we've heard from DFWIndian lately.

So I may be the one that needs to plan around baby then.  As long as it's not early-mid July, I should be good anytime.  My sister graduates from Auburn in mid-May, so those are my only two obstacles and neither are in either timeframe suggested.

  • If we tentatively plan for sometime in June, I don't think we'll really have to deal with anniversary issues since I think most of ours will fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Right? It would be nicer to do something before it gets miserably hot (although, it gets in the 100s here in June...so all summer is miserable for me lol).

I think sometimes I forget that the whole country doesn't have weather like me in the northeast. We get very intense seasons. Very cold and snowy winters, very hot summers, mild months in between.

Spring lasts from late February until late April, Summer hits by early May and ends in October, and then it is "fall" from November to January and we might get some winter in February :) Gotta love Texas.

  • Honestly, if there was a Chicago/Midwestern GTG I'd be more likely to be able to go due to money, but if there's an east coast one, I think I can plan and save ahead of time.

As for timing, I like to go volunteer at my old summer job the last week of June (the week they have the music camp), but if I have to skip a year, then it's ok.  If I'm gone a week for a vacay with you ladies, then David won't feel as bad taking off for a week to work with Drum Corps International (he's on staff with one of the Open Class bands).

Ditto.  It was 104 on our wedding day.

  • I am pretty open. I'd rather do Middle july or early august depending on where we go. It is going to be warm, it's summer :) Doesn't really matter to me, as long as we all get to see each other!!!
  • I'm perfectly fine with August! :) I really don't have any objections to anything really. Just tell me when, where and how much. I'll be there! :)

  • If you guys said Galveston, I'd totally be able to find a deal and haul DH down to show him why I have a love for Texas....but alas, much east of that things get prohibitively expensive (think >1000 round trip)

  • I'd be game with late July or early August too!  We vacation in June and school ends in June, plus anniversaries and people said about graduations
  • I'm pretty much open too! I agree about the 4th though. I cannot wait for this!

  • I object to August! As late in July is best. I would likely start back to work the first week of August, and obviously couldn't take the first week of school off lol.

  • I think late July or early August would work for me. It's hard to say for sure at this point but that is usually a good time of year to travel.
  • I am ok with the late July timeframe, but getting into August I start to get busy with work too.  womp womp.

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm not sure I can come since we have two weddings, our anniversary stuff, and baby stuff. Plan on without me.

Of course!  I wish we didn't have 'bad' clients, but we do.

  • I'm down with anytime next summer, except for around the July 4th since DH works for a fireworks company and I usually help. The only thing that might be an issue is if I get pregnant.

  • Anytime works for me. I can work my schedule around whatever.
  • If I can tag along, I am very open at this point.  We don't plan that far ahead. :)  Assuming nothing changes (ie baby) between now and then, then any time!

  • I've been busy this week at work so I haven't been able to join in on these posts. I would love love love to attend but can't commit just yet. H wouldn't mind at all, and assuming nothing drastic happens with our income, finances won't be a problem either. We were supposed to go to Disney World with in the in-laws (They are paying for everything!) this summer. Something came up, and we're pushing it to 2013. I don't know when that trip will be yet. I hope it works out for me to go. This would be so much fun!
