So, I'm asking b/c I can't get these people out of my head, and I don't even know them. I don't know what to say to her. And I don't even know if others have replied, since even though they can't seem to reply sender when they send personal info, they all seem to have figured it out for this email.
A co-workers son's wife is pg with #2 and this is the e-mail she sent out yesterday. I deleted names.

Our
son and daughter-in-law have asked for prayer for their
family. At present, [DIL] is 15 weeks pregnant. Long story short,
doctors have found that she has NO muscles under her uterus to hold this
baby. They are recommending termination of the pregnancy because this
is a life threatening condition that could result in [DIL] bleeding to
death.
The kids can't terminate this pregnancy. Therefore, the plan as
of today is to get her to 25 weeks. In about 2 weeks, DS will fly DGS to Florida to stay
with [DIL's] sister and [DIL] will be admitted into the hospital.
This is where she will stay until she has the baby. PLEASE PRAY FOR [DIL] AND THIS BABY THAT THE KIDS SO DESPERATELY WANT. Regardless of
the outcome, this will be their last baby and [DIL] will have a
hysterectomy.
Re: Good thoughts/prayers - several degrees of separation
Well that sucks. I honestly don't know what I'd do in that situation, and I'm not pro-life.
I don't have any suggestions for what you could say to her...it's obviously a terrible situation all the way around. I feel like I know what I'd do in that situation, but I don't think you can ever really know until you're there.
Because I have no kid yet and so haven't read the weekly updates you can get from Baby Center or wherever, I don't know , but isn't 25 weeks still extremely, extremely premature? Like, really low chance of survival and almost certainly disabled if they do survive? What a choice to have to make.
Oh, my gosh...I'm so sorry to hear about this situation...how terrible. I will keep their family in my thoughts.
24 weeks, I believe, is considered "viable." A good friend of mine started going into labor at just around 25 weeks...they were able to hold her off for a few days (still under 26) and she delivered her son by c-section...little Charlie was in the hospital for about 2.5 months, but he is now a healthy, thriving toddler. Hope this happy-ending example helps a bit.
I know of three babies who were born at 25 or 26 weeks. All three were healthy and developmentally on-track by age 3 or 4. I imagine the effects of being born so early vary widely but there are three more positive stories.
Well, whew. I mean, not that it's great for anyone to go through this kind of thing. But good that things can turn out okay.
Wow. That is just mind-blowingly bizarre. And tragic.
Like Jen, I know a woman who didn't know she was pregnant (she kept getting her period) until she went into the hospital with stomach cramps that got worse after 36 hours and they delivered her at 26 weeks.
I met her 3 years after that-- and her little 3 year old daughter was healthy, intelligent, and the tallest kid in her preschool class.
I will send out this kind of juju/good thoughts to the family-- I hope we hear a happy ending!

Such a horrible situation. i imagine bedrest would get boring, if you wanted to do something for them...maybe some yarn and teach yourself to knit book, crossword puzzle book, etc to help her be somewhat occupied would be nice.
