Spanair just folded

If you have tickets with any flight provided by Spanair, it's time to find an alternative. The airline went out of business last night and all **** has broken loose in many airports here.

Re: Spanair just folded

  • :(  Oh no! We have a flight on April 29th with them....better get on the phone :(

  • One thing I love is that we didn't even get an email saying "your flight is canceled" or hey, find another way ;)
  • To be fair, things have happened very quickly here and it just came across Spanish news last night around 8 pm. I figured I'd post something here since they're Star Alliance and many people use them for connections in/into Spain. I imagined the company wouldn't do something responsible like informing clients. Wink
  • Really appreciate you posting!  I'd been debating booking a ticket on their airline only two days ago but (thankfully) held out... doesn't sound like they'll be up and running again anytime soon based on the WSJ article I read.

Now I need to find an alternate way to get from Granada to Barcelona.  :(

  • We're in the same Granada-Barcelona boat...I know there are other options, it just stinks we are prob. out the money of the Sp.Air flights & have to fork over more $ for new flights :S....not sure how long we should wait it out to see what we need to do.  We still have ~ 3 months till our flight
  • NDSUGirl, if you booked your SpanAir tickets with a credit card you can file a claim through them. Not sure how fast you'd get your money back, but I know when one of the Hawaii interisland airlines went out of business that's the way they handled refunds.

  • MDGirl - Thanks for the tip!
  • Here's today's update:

I imagine you've paid with a credit card. Just get in contact with your bank and you should be reimbursed. Good luck!

  • Thanks for all the information.  We were able to get a full refund from our CC & have booked a new flight with Air Europa.  Hopefully this is the only hicup in our trip!
