Workout Review

I'm doing my best to get myself back into shape.  Last fall I started jogging a bit and have continued that on my treadmil this winter; however I needed something else because I was bored and I wanted a little strength training.   For those looking for a great workout video I'd highly recommend the Insanity series.   It is from the makers of P90X, but I like this a lot more.   Each video is about 35-45 minutes and I'm dripping with sweat by the end of them.   I feel I get a great workout in a short amount of time.

I should also add, I don't do them as instructed...i alternate a video with a day on the treadmil.  My neighbor does do the whole series 6 days a week and likes it - i just need more variation, i guess :)

Re: Workout Review

  • Thanks for the info. I would like to try this but my issue with working out at home is that all our rooms are carpeted- would this be easy to do on carpet?

  • I had a love hate relationship with P90X. It was a good workout but the time required to dedicate to each workout was my biggest complaint of that program. I am hoping to give Insanity a try once I am done BFing. It is nice to hear a positive review!

  • I liked Insanity! I was always able to laugh at myself while doing it because there was absolutely no way I could truly throw myself around like that...lol! I thought P90X is so much easier, I thought, but I liked Insanity...I have never sweat so much! Also, I don't think doing it on carpet was hard...worked for us!
  • Does Insanity require you to have any equipment or is it just body weight exercises? I'd like to do something like this but don't want to have to buy a lot of extra stuff. I think with P90x you need a pull up bar and we don't even have anywhere that one would fit with our 1920's wide woodwork trim. We tried. : (

  • I think carpet is fine...if you sweat a lot, it may be worth it find a cheap piece of carpet from Lowes or something to throw down and roll up when you work out.   Or maybe a big towel, sheet, or something along those lines would be fine too.   Ultimately if you have clean shoes, I think you'd be fine.

Insanity does not require any other equipment - it's all body weight exercises, which is awesome :)
