**Bali** (or any other dual citizenship holders
Did you have to give up your US Citizenship when you got your Australian?
I could swear that we can hold dual citizenship, but my boss's H is American and she said he HAD to give up the US to get Aussie?

Re: **Bali** (or any other dual citizenship holders
No, I did not have to give up my US citizenship.
As far as I know the US doesn't know that I also hold an Australian passport. When I travel to/from the US/Oz I carry both passports. I use the Aussie one leaving and returning to Oz and the US one leaving and returning to the US.
The whole process was incredibly easy and cost less than $300, so it will end up being cheaper and easier than applying for a resident return visa every 5 years.
After a bit more research it looks like OZ didn't allow dual until 1997 or 2002. Or I could just be reading it all incorrectly.
I'll just go with Bali's Don't ask Don't tell method (for the US).
::cough:: fuckyouNorway ::cough::
Well, if you're born dual that's fine, but you can't naturalize to become Norwegian (while retaining your old citizenship).
There are a few exceptions to this, and I have devised an elaborate and expensive scheme that may or may not work. If we settle in Norway I just might try it.
I have dual American/Israeli citizenship now and sometime this year (hopefully), I'll get UK citizenship so I'll have 3 passports. All the countries involved have a don't ask, don't tell and there's no way for the US to know what other passports I hold. I have to enter and leave each country on that passport and then enter the next country on that passport. And if something goes horribly wrong while I'm in the UK, I can't run to the American embassy - while I'm in a country that I'm a citizen of, that's my primary citizenship (although again, there's no way they would necessarily know).
I know tons of people with 2-3 passports actually and no one ever reported a problem with it.

Australia definitely allows dual citizenship now
dd has Aussie, American & UK
I plan to get my Aussie next year
(I have US & UK)
and like a pp said - you just have to enter & exit the country on the appropriate passport !
