One for the Money

I LOVE the earlier books of the Stephanie Plum series and still faithfully read all the new ones.  They started getting a little rocky around book 13 for me.  I'm hoping the movie will pump some renewed energy into the series.

Are you going to see the movie?

What do you think of the cast?

Team Ranger or Team Morelli?

Favorite Side Character?

Re: One for the Money

  • I am!  In fact I just bought the Groupon that was available.  I'm not a huge fan of Katherine Heigel but it looks good.  I can't wait to see how Lula is portraied.

  • I love the books for quick and easy reads!

I am still unsure about the movie though. From the preview I didn't like any of the casting. I had waaaay different pictures of the characters in my head. I probably will wait for it to come on dvd before I see it.

Team Ranger. I think there is too much baggage with Morelli.

  • I think the casting is terrible.

That said I think my mom and I are going to the movie together since we read all of the books. :-)

I love the Grandma Mazur in my head, not Debbie Reynolds as Grandma.

  • I'll be seeing the movie tomorrow with a girl friend.  I'm looking forward to romantic comedy, as DH doesn't like to go to them.  Heigl isn't who I pictured either, but I'm crossing my fingers.

Team Ranger.  Morelli tries to make Stephanie into who he wants her to be. Ranger just gives her a gun and makes Tank follow her around.

I love Tank.  One of my favorite scenes is when he brings out the picture of his cat.

  • I'm torn. I love the books and but I'm afraid of being disappointed. I will probably wait and rent the movie.

I'm curious to see everyone's review after seeing the movie.

  • My mom, sister and I are going tomorrow. I'm excited!

I do have to say that I have NO expectations whatsoever of the movie. I'm pretty sure that all the good parts are probably shown in the previews anyway so...

    I'm team Morelli. Maybe.

Side character - Grandma Mazur for sure!

  • I'm going to try and go this weekend or next :)  I loved the books, and just reread most of them on vacation.  I am NOT a fan of the casting, not at all.  But, I'll still give it a shot.

Totally team Ranger. But the one I have in my head, not the lame-o they casted in the movie.

  • I have read all of the books, but I think they stopped being great at about 10.  I think the last one that I loved was the one where Stephanie moved into Ranger's apartment temporarily.

I hope to see the movie, just not immediately.

I am so disappointed in the cast, except Vinnie and Connie.  I stalked IMDB when the movie started to get cast, so I've known for a while who was in it.  I picture Morelli with darker hair and eyes and a leaner build, I picture Ranger as well...CUBAN, and I picture Stephanie as someone that is not Katherine Heigl.  Besides, Stephanie always mentions her blue eyes, right?  Where are those???  I'm not too upset about Lula, but I think an unknown would proabably be better than Sherri Shepherd.

Team Ranger.  I like the chemistry between he and Stephanie in the books.

For side characters, I like Tank - although he hasn't been in the last few.  I also like Mooner a bit, although he gets annoying at times.

  • I saw it today with my mom. It was....ok. Basically it was just like the books - bad but entertaining.  :-)

  • I saw it this weekend.  I liked it.  Not loved it, but liked it.  They didn't mess with the story much, which was pleasantly surprising.  I forgot how much there was in that story and it's a lot to cram into a movie.

My biggest disappointment was that the theater got the reels mixed up!  We saw a chunk of what was supposed to be around the 3/4 point more around the 1/4 point.  I still knew what was going on, because I had read the books, but it was very annoying.  The theater gave everyone free tickets though.

  • I was disappointed in the movie. Was anyone else??

Katherine Heigl was okay, but I think the script just wasn't written very well...Plus I was picturing Ranger like Dwayne Johnson (the Rock)...the guys they cast and the Grandma just didn't cut it...

Even Lola wasn't that funny even thought she has me laughing so hard I'm crying in the books.

And I'm team Morelli because they seem right together- they're just too stubborn to work it out.
