I am planning a bachelorette party in Atlantic City in March. Right now we're in the thinking about hotels to stay in phase of planning.
There will be between 5-10 of us attending.
Can you guys tell me what AC hotels you've liked and what hotels you'd avoid? (Even "I thought x was meh" or "I stayed at x and it was fine but liked y much better" would be helpful.) We're trying to narrow the field a bit. Prices are kind of all over the place, so budget is out of the equation until we have a places to look at/places to avoid list.
We'll want good food and I guess we'll want nightlife (although I'm torn on what we want from that right now -- we're not a Jersey Shore club type of crowd, but we're also not a random Irish pub crowd either). But I recognize that AC is small and we won't have to stay at the same place where we eat/play. Still, we'd like to be somewhat close to nice/fun things, and not close to sketchiness.
Thanks!
Re: Atlantic City hotels?
the tropicana has a lot of great restaurants right there inside of it, some shopping too. can't remember about clubs, though.
the chelsea is really nice, too. really cool retro modern "vibe". nice spot, too because its on the boardwalk, but at the end- so its quieter. it also doens't have a casino in it which keeps it quiet, too. so its kind of the "best of both worlds" type thing- close to stuff, but quiet for when you actually do try to sleep LOL
i've never been in the borgota, but i hear its great, too. its way off the boardwalk, though so to do anything on the boardwalk, you'd have to cab or drive
I agree. We've only been to AC once and we booked through hotwire. This was the hotel that they gave us and we were very happy with it.
Pipe down, you had your chance!
Borgata or Harrahs. You won't be going to the beach in March (not that the beach is anything to write home about) so boardwalk location wouldn't matter to me at least. Harrah's has a cool indoor pool / club area and the Borgata is as close to Vegas style as you are going to get.
If any of the girls you are going with has a players card for Caesers Entertainment, you can easily get reduced price or free rooms in March to Harrahs, Caesers, Ballys or Showboat. March is not a happening time to visit AC and they pretty much give away rooms in the winter.
Tropicanna is affordable & the indoor mall area has a little something for everyone. It would be my choice for a girls' trip.
Friends stayed in the Days Inn last time we were there. It was a dump.
I think it's called the Flagstar or it used to me. It's down by the Irish Pub. It's one of the few big hotels that don't have a casino. It was the single most disgusting place I have ever stayed!
I should have believed tripadvisor when they said run. Do not make my mistake.
The Sheraton is nice. I like the indoor pool but it doesn't have a casino.
Cesars is great but can be pricy.
Like a lot of PPs, my top 2 would be the Borgata and Harrah's. I also like Tropicana.
The Borgata is a beautiful hotel, has great restaurant and night life options. mur.mur and MIXX are "clubby" but there is also Gypsy Bar which is fun and more low key.
The Pool at Harrah's is probably my favorite club in AC. The environment is way different then your typical club (indoor pool, hot tubs, etc.) and the area is huge so it never seems as crowded as other places to me. I've been there a couple of times for bachelorette parties and have always had a great time.
The Trop is also nice. The Quarter is fun to stroll through (lots of shops). There are a bunch of restaurants, a pub, etc. The nightclub Providence can be fun but is usually very crowded. Unless you are getting bottle service there is no where to sit down or get away from the crowd.
My least favorite hotel/casino is probably Showboat. My H and I stayed there once since we were comped a room and I wouldn't choose to stay there again. It definitely has an older crowd and the hotel itself seemed a little run down. There weren't many "things to do" other than gamble so we ended up going to other hotels to eat/drink/shop.
These are all great suggestions, but just be aware that in AC, everything is 'close to sketchiness'.
AC IS sketchiness.
But you can still be safe and have an awesome time there with the girls.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Married the love of my life on 1-21-12. Our princess arrived on 5-28-13.
I've been to a few bachelorette parties in AC (including my own). I've been to the clubs in Borgata, Tropicana, and Harrah's. The most like a "Jersey Shore" crowd that I saw out of the clubs at the 3 hotels above was the club in Tropicana. But Trop has other options (I've also been to an Irish bar and another bar where we did Karaoke). For nightlife I prefer the Pool Bar at Harrah's (that's where we went for my bachelorette). You can rent one of the poolside cabanas for your group if you want. We also liked the pool for daytime. You won't see many people actually swimming. Everyone just sits at the bars, on a lounge chair, in the jacuzzis, or in a cabana. Borgata's nightlife is pretty good too.
I like the restaurants in Tropicana and Borgata better than Harrah's.
The rooms in Harrah's (new tower), Tropicana (new tower), and Borgata are all nice. We always rent a suite when down there for a bachelorette party.
I wouldn't worry about the parts of the city that are "sketchy" because even if you go from one hotel to another the cabs are picking up/dropping off everyone right at the door.
