  You might want to look in to renting a condo from someone. That might me cheaper than a hotel. I live in the area and most beach hotels are cheesy unless they are the more pricey ones. If you are willing to drive a bit farther, Safety Harbor Spa has some decent rates and you can get a Bay View room for $150 or so a night.

  I used to live in St. Pete Beach and on one of the return visits we've stayed at the Bonaire Resort.  It has good prices and is directly on the beach, and has a range of room types.  It's about 45 minutes to Busch Gardens with all the but first 10 minute and last 5 on highway.  The only other ones I can think of on St. Pete Beach are Trade Winds and Don Cesar but they are $$$.  I'm not as familiar with the northern party of the county.
