Charleston, SC ideas

DH and I are going to have a little getaway in Charleston sometime in March.  I have only been there once before and didn't get to do or see a whole lot.

Any suggestions for where to stay, what to do, and where to eat?

We are fairly laid back and budget minded, but we're prepared to splurge a little bit.  We really enjoy good food and exploring by foot.  Any particular places we shouldn't miss?

 TIA!

Re: Charleston, SC ideas

  • For breakfast, DH and I enjoyed TOAST and the Hominy Grill.
  • here is my blog tag for our trip to charleston: charleston

we loved the area! our favorite visits were the aiken-rhett house and drayton hall. most of the restaurants we visited were great. dh loved sermet's and my favorite was probably snob. enjoy your trip!

  • We really enjoyed Ft Sumpter, Boone Hall plantation, and the angel oak tree. The aquarium was just ok. Our favorite meal was Virgina's on King. It's very budget-friendly and delicious. We liked it so much we went twice.
  • A few other ideas are the Charleston Tea Plantation.  It's America's only tea plantation.  I think it was $5 for a tour, they take you around in a trolley or tractor.  I've done it twice and enjoyed it both times.  Last time we were there we also went to the Firefly distillery and did a vodka tasting.  That was a lot of fun too.  I also enjoyed Hominy Grill (make sure to get reservations), Boone Hall and the angel oak tree.
