Super Bowl ideas anyone?

With the Super Bowl coming up in about a month, I'm looking for some creative and easy to make appetizers/decorations. Anyone have any ideas or anything that you've tried that's been a success?

Re: Super Bowl ideas anyone?

  • Welcome :)

Here's a good place to troll for ideas.

I googled and found some Pinterest boards with great ideas.  One, two, three.

Specific questions are easier to answer, so let us know if you have any :)

  • I agree that specific questions would be a lot easier.  I did run across this pizza bite recipe and want to try it right now.  It would be great for a superbowl party.
  • Make rice crispy treats shaped as footballs and use chocolate to draw the lines to make it more real.
  • We will be making pizza.  I just tried out this recipe today, and it was awesome!  I baked them in cake pans, but I think if you have cast iron, it would make them even better.

I used the above pizza crust recipe.

  • I had a Super Bowl party last year and had all the typical appetizers - pizza, wings, chips & dip, cheese & crackers, fruit & veggie platters, pigs in blankets, mini eggrolls. Then we did a chili in the crock pot with toppings on the side. It went over well.

For decorations, we put up all the football swag we could find.

In addition, we played a fun game that got everyone involved in the day, including those that weren't big football fans. When people arrived, we had them wager their guesses on a page of questions we had created....such as "what team will score the first touchdown" "how many field goals total will be scored" "will there be a guest appearance during the half-time show...bonus points, who will it be" "how many beers will we drink" and "how many times will we all use the restroom"......then I had used a poster-sized piece of paper to write down all the guests names and create a scoreboard. As the questions were answered, we doled out the points. In addition, we had a tally-board on the beer cooler and on the bathroom door, and guests kept a tally to answer those particular questions. Everyone had a blast....and we had a first and second place prize (something silly and football-related.)

Those non-football-related questions all seem like fun! I've done the usual football-related ones (who will score the first TD, what will the score be after the first quarter, etc). but I like silly random ones that are fun for those that don't care about the game.

  • Every Superbowl Party I've had, I've tailored the food/drinks to the teams playing. I serve beer and/or a drink from the city/area. I served Hurricanes and Gumbo for the Saints game, Boston and NY beer for the Pats/Giants game. I also have a great black-eyed pea and pork butt chili that I like to make.

  • Ditto on the pizza bites.  They're super easy and people eat them up quickly.  I make these just about any time we have people over for sports watching.
